Mike Ashley in talks to seal Compensation deal with Boro

Can't see Gibson agreeing to an out of court settlement. He's the devil incarnate hell bent on forcing Derby out of existence (apparently, according to Derby fans).

If Ashley pays out then surely he can then fight the odious Morris in courts to get his money back, if we actually won our claim then Derby were in the wrong at the time & who was in charge of Derby back then, not Ashley
I assume it will simply reduce his £50 million purchase to £47 million or whatever?

Unbelievable job
I expected him to be a disaster as manager, he's doing very well & presents his views quite well on TV...
I do think some teams must look at their league position & forget they've been deducted 21 points... they play very decent football..

Ashley will do what is best for Ashley. He can smell a profit in turning Derby around and making them re-sellable in time. I think it would be silly to assist him to do so, that could even come back to bite. Any deal if Gibson is so inclined should ideally be after the window shuts so transfers are not an option this season for them, unless of course the funding were considered essential at Boro. Gibson is no mug and whatever he does, it will be genuinely thought to be in Boro’s best interests, I can’t say Ashley will do the same for Derby in the long term though.

No because Mike Ashley's due diligence will have revealed the various lawsuits pending. They obviously affect the value of Derby. The only way Ashley would have a claim against Mel Morris is if there are lawsuits or liabilities or some other disaster that he doesn't discover and isn't revealed to him.

I can't think why Steve Gibson would negotiate at this stage with Mike Ashley though. He has nothing to gain if his lawsuit has any merit. If he's just flying a kite in the hope if getting a payment to go away and shut up then I guess it makes sense. It certainly makes sense for Mike Ashley if he can get a settlement figure - he'll know the extent of another liability which of course will affect the value of DCFC.

It's just occurred to me that Ashley could insist the stadium is thrown in as part of the deal if he assumes all the liabilities.

Been reading their forum just now and I’m not sure where I stand on this whole Gibson vs Derby thing. I don’t 100% know the ins and outs of the whole subject but I couldn’t imagine being in the position where you could be partially blamed (rightly or wrongly) for a club going out of business and knowing what that would mean to such an amount of people. He must be confident with his case.

There will almost definitely be trouble at our game against them coming up soon.

Oh yeah for sure! But in doing that Derby will have a better chance of containing to exist as a club that with the current administrators.. who I doubt have any interest in the club as a going concern only that their fees get paid and they can squeeze as much out of the situation.

Our two sets of fans have been caught up in a bit of a wrangle that doesn't really concern them. Derby on one hand clearly flaunting FFP rules and rubbing it everyone's faces (our more so as it resulted in us missing out on the playoffs by one point) well all that gesturing and bravado has come back to bite them being that they cant "do what they want" Boro fans quire rightly gave them a bit of stick back. The financial issue between our club, Wycombe and derby is one of many and doesn't really differ from any of the other debts and liabilities that they have ran up. the idea that MFC or Steve Gibson's actions are in some way to blame for their predicament in quite frankly ridiculous.

Derby need stability and they should be putting pressure on the administrators to find a buyer, the fact they have not managed the club well enough to move players around or even renew contracts says as much as you need to know about where their priorities lie.

Derby have been the championships school bully they've knocked out Wycombe completely and they've given Boro a bloody nose.. no point screaming to mummy cos you have to give us back our dinner money..

Personally I would have expelled the daft little chunt!

my understanding is that the reason the administrators cant select a buyer is due to Boro and Wycombe's claims hanging over them meaning we are in a way to blame for it not moving forward. Of course we are no way to blame for them being in this mess in the first place!

Apparently the reported 45mil claim is pie in the sky and a number generated by the press (or someone). It's not remotely what we are after.

So I imagine we'd take a settlement off Ashley just to make it go away. I would imagine 5-10 mil would be nearer the mark.

I'd be happier if it all goes away and just let Derby 'crack on' with just staying up and more so existing.

That said the daily Boro bashing on twitter by Derby fans is really winding me up. I hate them more than Leeds 😂
Leeds and Boro fans share a hatred of Derby. I've had several Leeds fans join in with the defence of Boro against Derby on social media posts! It's strange Haha

Assuming Morrison didn't embezzle money from the club. This is incorrect.

The ONLY reason is Boro and Wycombe’s claim? Doesn’t make sense.. there would be a settlement figure which would be associated with the takeover/ purchases.. pretty straightforward and nothing to do with the transfer embargo. Sounds more like the administrations are dragging their heels..

Think it is a chicken and egg situation Newy. The administrator's have to prove that Derby can fulfill their fixtures till the end of the season and have a funding plan in place to cover costs till May.

The administrator can't know what the legal costs and any settlements of the two cases will be over the coming months, so they can't tell the EFL that they have adequate funding in place to guarantee they'll be able to fulfill their fixtures.

They could have settled or found a new owner with an agreement in place. Only one party benefits from the administrators remaining in place and that is the administrators.

It wouldn’t hit court until after the seasons ended anyway.
