MR . JOHNSON'S DAMASCENE MOMENT

Let me preface that Johnson is a moron to trust as far as one can throw.

But I don't agree with this term "denier" being thrown around so liberally.

I think that in the world of politics you have genuine deniers, deniers who are vocal because of lobbyists money, people genuinely open to debate about climate issues and then full on climate activists.
There's few at the two ends of that spectrum, but far too many being influenced by 'contributions' from interested parties.
Then you also have the insidious lot who'll lie about anything if it keeps them in power.
Make you mind up where I think Johnson lies in those little groups.

The problem is that by publicly being sceptical you are denying it. Johnson has done that many times.

Saying “There is no evidence that the planet is suffering from the extreme weather patterns associated with climate change.” is denying it.

So are you saying that you don't agree he was previously a climate change denier?

He has tried to gloss over his previous views by saying it was just some things he'd written about twenty years ago but as recently as 2016, he said that concerns about climate change were:

"driven by a primitive fear that the present ambient warm weather is somehow caused by humanity; and that fear – as far as I understand the science – is equally without foundation.”

Boris Johnson Said Climate Concern Was ‘Without Foundation'

That sounds like, in Alexanders overly verbose and condescending words, that he is denying climate change

All politicians are full of **** and contradict themselves constantly (minus the very few good ones)

Boris is probably one of the worst of the lot. Has contempt for those below him and the real working man, could not give the slightest **** about the hardships anyone goes through on a daily basis. Says what he likes to get him in some very high places and make himself richer (eg: Brexit, he knew it was a dreadful idea)

So I very much doubt he cares about the future of the planet in the slightest, as he'll have croaked come the time the worst effects of Climate Change take effect.

Not at all, I despise them all for turning around their beliefs for a chance in the hot seat.

I was supporting the hypocrisy rather than whatabouting it.
Many Politicians are hypocrites. Big fat ones. Thats not in question.

This thread is about Johnson so there was no need for the "hey but what about....."

That's the way of political debate these days no? Whataboutery is much easier than having to address issues.

I honestly don't get how it works in politics as a defence of someone's misdeeds.

It doesn't work in real life. Imagine trying to defend someone who assaulted another person and your defence was "Yeah but whatabout Shipman, he was worse..."

It wasn't 'hey but what about' it was 'hey I agree and would add May and Corbyn who also did a U-turn with the EU for their own gains too'

It's a thread about hypocrisy and I was adding to it.
