My son just tested positive

Mine too. Stuck in Sheffield (where he's at university). My daughter has symptoms and took a PCR on Thursday, results were due by 9am today but still haven't arrived so she's stuck at university too. We've spent the last year stranded 4000 miles away from our kids; now we are in England and less that 70 miles away but still can't see them 😔

Sorry to read that, I hope it all turns out okay for you.

That is really sad to read regarding both your family circumstances.

Red, from your posts and pictures, I know you are close to your son. I hope he gets well soon and you can make the most of it.

Goalscrounger, that must be really hard to deal with after being away so long. When do you go back, will you get a chance to see them?

Yes thankfully. We were due to fly back last Wednesday but the US Embassy have randomly denied my son a renewed visa so he can't go back home to Chicago until it's sorted so we cancelled our flights so he wasn't stuck here alone for Christmas. He then went to a formal dinner he was going to avoid if he could fly home and we think that's where he got Covid. Similar story with my daughter who represented her university in a trampoline competition she was avoiding until she realised she wasn't flying home to Chicago.

We don't fly back until early New Year's Day now so we will get a few days together at least. I have a feeling it may be a long while before we are together again after this though.

That's really crap news for all of you that are getting these positive results. Feel for you. Son just had a test but thankfully negative - think he just has a heavy cold. Be careful out there people

Yes lateral flow, looking into pcr now, but he has a high temp and not feeling too well

The rest of us are -ve (so far)

PCR booked in tomorrow morning

I'm considering spending the next 10 days away from the family as I can't get a booster until Jan, Mrs H has had hers already

My 13 year old just recovered(say recovered, she still got a bad chest and tires easily and still not got her sense of smell or taste back fully yet) now my 7 year old has tested positive in the last couple of days. In the last 2 months I know personally more people catching COVID than at any other point throughout the full pandemic.

My son tested positive a week ago and has been with me every day bar one since. He has had no symptoms. I have tested negative twice on lateral flow, including this morning and once on PCR…….this isn’t a complaint as I don’t want to test positive and have to isolate but I’m baffled as to why I’m negative. I would have thought I’d have picked it up straight away.

I’m twice jabbed and boosted

Oxfordshire.

No chance around here.
Know the feeling, am near Banbury, lack of options for vaccination round here are a joke. We ended up going to Coventry yesterday, which isn't too much hassle, but not a single walk in centre in Oxfordshire or Buckinghamshire which makes a mockery of these so called plans to jab a million a day!

Is he also twice jabbed and boosted as this will limit how much of the virus he sheds. My wife didn't get it when I had it and we were still sharing the same bedroom until I tested positive (so during the most contagious period). Sees unvaccinated people are not only most likely to catch the virus but also more prolific spreaders.

No, he’s only 9.

It sounds like the jabs are doing their job for you.

I had it in July and continued to share the bed with my wife, we both self isolated together yet she tested negative every day. We had both only had one jab each at that point as well.
