Neil Warnock agrees to continue as Huddersfield manager next season šŸ‘

It was a disgrace how it ended here for Neil, he had already heard Wilders name mentioned in the weeks up to his sacking. He wasn't given any money to spend yet has a record number of promotions on his CV. He knows you have to fight and scrap and battle to get out of this league and need some players that can do the dirty physical work eg Crooks - that he signed.
He got a battling draw away at WBA the day he was sacked and for the 2 months previous had most of his defence out injured...
Yeah we played some great football this season but lacked the muscle and know how when it mattered.
Look at Burnley, Sheff Utd and Luton they all had physical players and knew how to mix it up to win...
THAT'S HOW YOU GET OUT OF THIS LEAGUE AND NEIL KNOWS IT šŸ‘
We all wanted the fairlytale and I have no doubt that Warnockā€™s team would have picked up points with the return of his back four Dijksteel, Fry, McNair & Bola.. but he would have tanked the cup to chase the league.. who do we bring in January under Warnock.

Do we finish on 76 points? Beat Nottingham Forest in the semi final?
Beat Huddersfield in the final?

Iā€™m not sure if we do.. loved Warnock, couldnā€™t stand Wilder.. but weā€™re in a better place now imo

I wonder if he's out on his bike around Holmfirth.

I thought he did a great job last season at Huddersfield.

He can spot weaknesses and often knows how to pluck them or exploit them.

At Huddersfield I would imagine he is left to get on with it - at Boro he had to do things in the transfer market that were not of his doing e.g selling Morsy for Siliki, which cost us points in 2021/22.

Plenty of players Neil wanted but didn't get the backing....Look what he did at Cardiff they narrowly went down from the Prem, and they had all the heartache with the striker they wanted who sadly died in the plane crash....They might have stayed up and now be an established Prem side šŸ‘Ifs, buts and maybes kid šŸ‘

Iā€™d rather have Chuba Akpom over Keiffer Moore, Riley McGree over Pelly Ruddock.. I was quite happy with the loan players we had last season too.

Kieffer Moore and Pelly Ruddock are Premier League players now....

You must really enjoy the Championship šŸ†

He'd had two promotions in 20 years I think, and far more failures and sackings than promotions. Most of his prmotions were pre-2000.
Three promotions in the last 17 years:

Sheff United 2006
QPR 2011
Cardiff 2018
All promotions to the Premier league and all without parachute payments.

Boro have had one promotion under Karanka in 2016 in the same period or 1 in 13 attempts.

His early career (pre 2000) offered more chance of promotions as he was generally managing outside the top tier.

BoroMart - 99% of managers have had more sackings than promotions - I would guess.

The bottom line is that his record surely has to be judged above average.

are you suggesting that Keiffer Moore and Pelly Ruddock are better players than Chuba Akpom and Riley McGree.. and if we had those two players instead we would now be in the premier league. Neil Warnock succeeding where Micheal Carrick failed?

you must really like.. sniffing glue :alien:

I forgot the QPR one. Anyway 3 in 18 seasons, so 5 times out of 6 he doesn't get promoted.

Akpom much more valuable than Moore agreed, but I'd happily swap Ruddock for McGree and I suspect the current transfer values would agree.

Moore and Mpanzu both got promoted

.Akpom and McGree failed to do that and are still in the Championship

...and I'm the one sniffing glue šŸ„“

And people on this board still slate Karanka šŸ˜‚. "We got promoted despite Karanka

I'm sure fans of Boro can't appreciate when a manager is doing a good job and get too focused on brand of football.

They didnā€™t get promoted by themselves. Tavernier didnā€™t get promoted..

How many slated Karanka? outside of daft pundits screaming 4-4-2 and wanting us to go two up front.. most fans would have stuck with Karanka and would have backed Karanka and would have probably had him back.. until Warnock/Wilder/Carrick era.. and even then.

Read the Karanka thread from the other day...

One unnamed poster said we should have sacked him before the PL season even started

Whatever happens with Warnock and Huddersfield this season, I don't think his legacy in the game will be tainted.

He's been a fanstastic asset to English football for decades and arguably the greatest Championship manager ever.

His football isn't my cup of tea, but you can't knock his record over his career.
