Netherlands v USA

This game is showing how much Van Gaal is more tactically astute that Southgate. This is how we should have approached the USA game last week.

Really? So how come The Netherlands failed to beat Ecuador, (a team ranked much lower than USA) and played very poorly in their second group game?
That doesn't fit with your narrative.
Every team in the world, and every team so far at this World Cup will have the odd poor game. Without exception. It doesn't mean a team or manager is necessarily flawed.

Anyone who thought the US could win this game surely doesn’t watch a lot of football or maybe saccr. US just don’t have any one on the pitch which can be called a decent goal scorer and that has to be the number one fundamental for any team in any league or competition. Overall the US has performed well but they need a lot of other parts to their game I feel to be a force.

Dutch barely got out of second gear. They had no need to. USA couldn't see what there game plan was and fell into the trap.

They need that superstar player, a messi, ronaldo (either one), Pele to channel all that pressing and athleticism into some forward momentum.

Maybe the issue that USA and other countries where association football isn't the main sport is that the top athletes don't gravitate towards it and instead become great at other sports? Maybe?
