New folk club opening in Boro this Friday

What is WSAG.

Enjoyed last night. Nice to see you again. Had to leave early for train which I missed. Got bus round corner though. So should have took you up on lift from your Mam.
Some sterling singing performances. Will come again.
Please let me know when you get TWF on.

Oh god...drunk posting, not good.
Cheers though asred, will defo keep you informed mate!

Aye Newy, it's gonna be a monthly thing for now with the option of making it more frequent
I didn't even know Russell's place had opened! Drunk posting? You're speaking to a pro!

Folk Daddy back on the scene can only be a good thing for Teesside yeah boi

Good luck

I used to go to the Welly in the Boro for folk nights in the early 80s.

I used to listen the Teesside Fettlers through borrowed LPs from the Boro Central Library as I could not afford to buy LPs when I was a student. Now I have all the LPs from second hand shops and Oxfam online - 40 years later.

I try to support Teesside based Folk bands when they come into my neck of the woods - saw the late Vin Garbutt in my town and Megson. I saw the Young Uns at Boro Town Hall. Teesside seems to be a real hotbed for Folk bands - Chapman Family, The Wilsons, Cattle & Cane. Some of the local Teesside folk songs have some great humour and some deep passion and emotion.

The Chapman Family a folk band?

You sure?

Ey up
I'm starting a new folk club up called Ring of Iron (in tribute to the late, great Graeme Miles), and the first night is this Friday (24th) at the Chapel, Whitehouse St, Newport. Its right behind that big church just off the Newport Bridge roundabout.
Starts at 8.00pm

I know there's a few folkies on here, so thought I'd lerrum know like..
Cheers
Good luck mate

Oh folk

Even I, a quite experienced and dull old folkie, struggle to sit through too many 'Matty Groves' type Olde English tales of fair maidens and noblemen.

Oh God yeah, some songs can be hard to endure!
I'm currently working for the British Library archives on the Peter Kennedy collection - an archive of over 10k songs - and some of it is driving me insane...actually making me question my love of folk music hahawaaaa

A dirty job, but somebody's got to do it.
