Not heard it Balaban but I don't usually have time for podcasts but may try to find it and have a listen while I am in garden later. Thanks for the heads up.

Then I'll chase her up over the rest of the week. Phoebe Bridgers has been a great lockdown accompaniment for me. Along with Du Blonde's new album.
rkangel I have to go back and listen to her earlier stuff as well. Plus Julien Baker who had an album out recently. Also check out the work they did together as boygenius. Just an EP so far but I think a new album is coming. And I'm sure you will have checked out the Better Oblivion Community Center album that Phoebe Bridgers did with Connor Oberst but if not its a must hear.

Thank you. I came across Boygenius yesterday following your introduction of Lucy Dacus. I like them a lot and will look out for the album. Conor Oberst was my initial route into PB. I've liked him since his first album, but I must confess I'm more taken by Ms B these days.

Posted it last week but that's no reason not to post again. It's superb. Reminded me of Let's All Eat Grandma but maybe as it's two ladies but does have the feel of Dry Cleaning.👍

Sorry missed that! Haven't been on here as much recently! Like this a lot and it does warrant a repeat listening! Love the humour in the video too! (y)

Great start to this weeks new releases. It can only go downhill from here but hopefully not. Great titles for song.

For anyone interested Paste has ranked all their albums. Disappointed that my favourite Full Force Galesburg come in bottom but there is a few I have not fully heard.

The brilliant Ben Cooper aka Radical Face. This one has a story to it

"So this one was has a bit of story behind it.

Last Friday I got contacted out of the blue by the creator of the show "The Blacklist." There was a very important final scene in the the season finale, and there was suddenly an issue with the music that was slated to go along with it. I was asked if I could come up with something for the scene over the weekend, as it was due to air on Wednesday. But it was a long cue -- about 5 minutes. We had never spoken before that moment, but they've featured me on the show multiple times and it's been a really big reason that people have heard of me at all. So of course I was happy to at least try.

I got a cut of the scene, some notes about the tone and the mood, and then the work started. Writing to cues is a bit different than writing songs, because the tempo and mood have to fit something that already exists. It's about amplifying a mood instead of generating it from scratch. So just sorting the structure can take a lot of time. I could also tell right from the start that I'd need strings on this, so I asked Josh, my partner, to help me come up with some cello parts. He's really great at playing emotively, so we got all that sorted in a couple hours. The rest was a blur. But it's fun to just move sometimes and go entirely with gut responses. There wasn't time to second guess anything. And luckily it was all moods and tones that are well within my wheelhouse.

To jump to the end, the piece worked out well and was accepted. And since it will have already aired before I put out my next newsletter, I am uploading it early. "
