Lots of things planned by Boro - including screening footage of the final league game v Luton. Lots of other stuff too.
What can we do to commemorate and celebrate the end of our home for over 90 years?
Many of us have memories we can share and photos and video footage perhaps. But for all those that have grown up in the 25 years since it will be a whole new ball game for you.
Originally I had hoped to be helping an archaeological dig but funding disappeared or at least was put back for the time being - just as well really, considering. But there are lots of memories we can dig through instead and interact with the official Boro site mfc.co.uk as well as posting on here and fmttm.com Am sure Erimus will open his archive to us. And there are lots of other things we can do to support the Boro's big look back week - Ayresome Week.

Good grief that went quick ! Feels like only yesterday I was preparing for that last ever league game at good old Ayresome - what memories we have though ! Much as i like The Riverside, Ayresome Park will always be “home” for me

I just posted this on the "other" board about 25 years.
It is a long time now isn't it, 25 years?
Think about the first 25 years at Ayresome Park and the stadium survived a World War. I say survived because there were zeppelin raids on Hartlepool.
But the world would have seemed a very different place after those 4 years of conflict. Several players who joined up in a pals regiment as well many, many faces in the crowd would have been missing when peacetime came and football resumed.
One player was there through almost the whole time - Tim Williamson made 602 appearances as a goalkeeper for Middlesbrough, scoring two goals, as well as 7 appearances for England.
He made his debut in 1902, before Ayresome and didn't retire until 1923. So OK he missed the last 5 years of our quarter century but he lost 5 years to the war. Just imagine how many appearances he would have made in goal.
Andrew Jackson, Robert Atherton, Henry Cook, Middlesbrough players John Harkins, Donald McLeod, David Murphy, Archibald Wilson and Richard Wynn were all killed in WW1

Has anyone ever seen the footage of bbc look north the day after ayresome Park closed and the report of it closing. I'm sure I was on it but I've looked all over YouTube but can't find it

Tim Williamson, was the 1st & I think, still to this day, the only England keeper to score an OG
And it happened at Ayresome Park v Rep of Ireland
