I don’t get the reparation argument as you say it’s not the current day who enslaved them nor is the person being paid the one that was enslaved.

Of course people should raise awareness of what happened but sadly it did

I don't think there is anyone who doesn't agree that slavery is a stain on the past but there are people like myself who would not be here if it wasn't for slavery.

The argument for reparation could be made against those who are still benefiting from the wealth of their forefathers who made their money through slavery.
 
I guess the point is the perpetrator and their offspring (future generations) most likely profited/benefitted from their ancestors actions in some way or form, even if they didn't ask for it.

Yes but they benefit from the money they brought into the country. We all do. Not just the rich. Money gets passed down.
The issue is statute of limitations. Could I claim reperations as one of my ancestors was enslaved by the Romans?
