North East and Yorkshire vaccine supply to be halved

I know two of our over 80’S that have yet to be contacted, my in laws.
Living in coastal Kent, where vaccination progress is stuttering at best, I'm envious but good to see NE doing well in this. It seems that sensible priorities have been set (surprising for this govt) and that should remain, preferably by improving process in tardy areas rather than cutting back in successful ones.

So, as that equality is unlikely. what's more important nationally, getting current priority groups complete or getting as many people vaccinated as quickly as possible.

Don’t really see the big deal with this, being from Yorkshire doesn’t make you more susceptible to dying from Covid, being old and vulnerable does so get that vaccine into the arms of those people regardless if they live in Yorskshire, Sussex or the moon. The issue is clearly supply so what’s the point in vaccinating a 50 year old up North when a 80 year old down here needs the jab.

On the face of it that seems disgraceful, that’s basically punishing a region for efficiency. To be honest nothing surprises me anymore about this covid situation, I just know I’m sick to death of hearing about it and the ever moving goalposts / lockdown timescales / school opening-closing etc etc etc. I just want to go to the pub and see some friendly faces over a pint and relax a bit.
Hear bloody hear but for me it’s going to be a lot more than one pint

But there seems to be plenty of (anecdotal admittedly) evidence from the few posts on here showing our over eighties and nineties aren't all vaccinated with their first shot, let alone both.

I know it’s wrong but I am seriously getting to the point where I think we should all collectively say fck it and get on with our lives. I know that’s not sensible really and am just spouting but I’m getting really frustrated by the whole thing, the lies and incompetence, the moving targets and now this!!’ 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🖕
I certainly understand your despair . I went out yesterday ( unavoidably ) in Yarm for the fist time in two weeks and you’d never think there was a crisis . I felt like you

Playing devils advocate it would be interested if somebody analysed and corroborated pre covid voting patterns with vaccination rollout. Wouldn’t surprise me

You would like to think there is a register or at least a record of people who have tested positive. Not saying it should be driving the program but if millions have already had the virus it seems mad to give them a vaccine that’s in short supply given they know you have protection that’s better than the vaccine once you recover.

You are not vaccinated if you have been tested positive within a recent set time frame.
I know this from several sources, family and friends.

I thought the stats said we were about 67% complete in North East and Yorkshire, as opposed to around 50% complete in London and the South East.

My sister in law had a positive test for covid 3 weeks ago and got her 1st shot today

How that happens I haven`t a clue

It seems pretty sensible to me. North East is well ahead of the curve 're over 80s, which is great. (I said in another thread 'well done to the North East' for that). There will still be vaccine supply, but moving more vaccine to other areas of the country to allow them to catch up a bit is fair enough.

If they've taken supply off us because it is needed elsewhere and we have more than we should, then fair enough

But if they are just hamstringing us because we are doing a better job that elsewhere then that is shocking

I’m going to repeat an earlier suspicion ( above ) . Joking apart I really wouldn’t put it past this lot as they are so barbaric and self serving

The systems in place here have been really fine-tuned and integrated perhaps to a higher degree than elsewhere in the country. Were they not meeting their own set targets because the planning had been exceptional?

Did she not mention this when getting a vaccination?
I`ll ask her next time I speak to her

I do know she was approached by her work to be put forward for the vaccine even after knowing she has had covid

I am curious of to why she has had it though

She doesn`t fit the age bracket....55
She has no underlying health conditions that would put her in the bracket to get the vaccine

The only thing I can think of that would push her in to that top group is that she works in a covid ward at our local hospital, but she isn`t a health worker just a domestic
