Novak wins his appeal Good Luck with the crowds

Yeah, I've wondered about this too. Seems fortuitous! I did cross my mind whether he was stupid enough to get deliberately infected. As you say, it was just chance. (The other thought us that he just claims to have had it in December, but actually didn't. However, I would have thought that there would be very serious repercussions if that was found to be the case).
Whose ever going to find out? How do you prove he didn't have it?

I suspect he never had it at all, but has claimed it once his lawyers talked to him, explaining that would be an exemption.

- Dec 15th didn't have covid
- Dec 16th didn't have covid
- Dec 17th didn't have covid
- had given up on going to Aus Open, but his team and lawyers tried to broker a vaccine exemption
- late Dec, exemption agreed
- early Jan word gets out that Novak has been given exemption leading to public outcry
- Novak boards plane to Aus
- PM gets involved and revokes exemption
- Novak arrives declares his exemption but is detained
- Novaks lawyers review laws, and instruct him to claim he is exempt because of "catching covid on Dec 16th" but now recovered
- Journalists investigate and realise that on Dec 17th Novak was out and about and mingling
- Novak's team panic and can't formulate a reasoned response, instead refusing to answer questions.

Something like that is the likely situation

Ah I get you. Yes the passports. Also some breaking the rules during lockdowns 👍🏻
he didn't break lockdown rules, he broke isolation rules (if indeed he had covid, spoiler he probably didn't) and knowingly put other people at risk

The breaking lockdown rules was aimed at the professional footballers in this country Mart. 👍🏻

Which ever way you look at this he does not come out in a positive light.

1. he did have it and knowingly put others at risk including kids.
2. He didn’t have it and is not vaccinated so now wants to put others at risk for his own personal gain.
3. He doesn’t meet the entry criteria so is stamping his feet and making out he is some kind of victim.

if he gets his way I hope he gets spanked in the first round!

I heard an aussie journalist on the radio this morning and he said that what the aussie public are most upset about is that if your an unvaxxed australian returning from a foreign trip you have to go into quarantine, whereas if your an unvaxxed foreign sportsperson coming you just walk right in.

I can see how that may stick in the craw a bit, given Melbourne have had the longest lockdown in the world apparently.

This really is the crux of the matter. His family apparently ended the press conference when they were asked to explain what happened.

If he has faked a PCR test I would assume Australia would deport him straight away and his standing in the world as a person, who is also an outstanding sportsman would massively diminish.

If having had a positive test he has put others in danger of infection he has real problems too particularly with his previous reckless actions re the virus.

His next press conference should be interesting!

I noticed that he has posed wearing a Lacoste t shirt. I can't imagine that this will sit well with his sponsors (looking on their website he is their big name)...

He published his positive LFT result but when a journo scanned the QR Code it showed negative.
She went on Twitter with it then scanned the code again afterwards and it showed positive.
They have lied through their teeth from start to finish.

One can hardly blame him for that if he's gone through the correct process.
Different Australian authorities have different requirements and he's been stopped at the border (the most restrictive).

His argument seems to be that because Tennis Australia agreed he could play (and brokered access(?) based on approved visa documentation) the border force should have waved him through without having to see the documents in question.

The biggest pointer (IMO) to him being dishonest is that he didn't have the documentation to hand when he attempted entry to Australia.

Surely if he had all the correct documentation and he knew his visa required it then he'd have made sure he had a copy in his bag. I know I would and I'm (a) a massively disorganised halfwit and (b) not supported by a small army of lawyers and other advisors.

The Spiegel journalist claiming the QR code showed a negative result prior to changing to positive is going to be an interesting talking point.

If he (or his team) has fabricated the PCR result then I'd imagine he won't ever compete in Australia again.

One does wonder if we ever find out which Boro players haven't been vaccinated wether they would receive the same vitriol this singular Serbian tennis player has?
Did any Boro players come out and publicly declare in an interview that they're opposed to vaccination? Djokovic did.

Did any Boro players organise a tournament in the midst of the pandemic to try to prove that COVID-19 is nothing to worry about, which led directly to many of the participants catching Covid, including themselves? Djokovic did.

Did any Boro players, after testing positive for Covid, then proceed to go out to various public events involving numerous people (including children) in the following days, maskless? Djokovic did.

If (and only if) any Boro player had done all that, then you'd be justified in asking why they're not getting the same criticism as Djokovic.

Feels like he's going to be allowed to compete. Going to be absolutely fascinating, every match will be like an away tie in the Davis Cup for him.

As much as I think he's an absolute bell end it'd be an unbelievable achievement in the circumstances. I can't see it, too much to deal with even for him you'd think. But if anyone is capable it's him.

Also seems that he broke another rule by travelling to different countries 14 days prior to entering Australia after confirming that he would not.
They really need to kick this guy out - running rough shot over the rules and expecting special treatment.

his focus drive and ambition to be the best tennis player is sadly revealing flaws in his character as to how he disrehards the health of others.

@Laughing , is it worth putting some money on him to win the tournament outright or will the odds be **** poor? I don't really follow tennis.

Typical entitlement of the rich and famous. The rules simply don't apply to them, they're only for little people.
The world is laughing at Australia.

They are investigating him now for false declarations on his passenger locator form. He's said he travelled nowhere in the 2 weeks before going to Aus but allegedly he's been to 2 different countries. That carried a sentence up to 12 months! Imagine if they locked him up :ROFLMAO:
