Paddy McNair

It’s irrelevant what he wants, more importantly we as a football club should be looking to move him on. Time after time this season he’s shown he’s no where near good enough. Shambolic today and I mean really bad
No.
Hes given us four good years and stayed loyal to the club through 5 different Managers.
Many times his contribution has been vital.
As Michael Carrick said last week: players move in and out of clubs, because "thats football".
It unfair to judge four years on a defeat to a Premier League club in the cup.

Some of us said the same about chuba Akpom - and look how wrong we were.

Hes a big part of the reason we've had 5 managers in his time here

He's always been rubbish. Rubbish as a midefielder and too soft for a centre half. Only looked half-decent when we played Warnock or Pulis ball as the ball would be quickly punted the the opposite side of the pitch, and he often swung in a good corner and freekick which made him Beckenbauer in the eyes of some.

Giles had a bad game as well didn't do a lot, we also looked lightweight in midfield, big gulf between top half of premiership and us at the moment.
Also depth of squad left wanting today. McNair wasn't brilliant but neither were the rest of the team.

Telling you now I won’t be wrong about McNair. He’s shyte mate. No room for sentiment in this game. Get him out. He plays like he doesn’t care

At times, every player has a poor period.
Honestly.
I trust him to do whats best for him.
I wish him well.
Thats not being sentimental.
Jones is going through a tough patch at the minute, but I wouldnt describe him as schitt.
We`l see what happens in the rest of the tranfer window.

Jones is fine. McNair is playing asif he doesn’t care for me and that’s the reason I am critical. I can put up with poor play but I can’t put up with Half arsed performances

I think McNair has been poor for some time now, whether that’s confidence or constantly chopping and changing positions I’m not sure. But, the most worrying thing is that I honestly don’t know his best position he looked lost today and didn’t set the world alight in midfield. I think if an offer came in I would be looking to move him on and reinvest.

I thought the midfield was outnumbered and outmanoeuvred rather than poor yesterday.

I thought Hackney looked in the right company to me and thought he had a good match.
We are a side chasing the playoffs, a long way off a PL side and it showed clearly yesterday.
We were given a schooling yesterday and some gulfs in class were exposed.
McNair will move on I think, but the real worry is Jones and a staggering loss of form/confidence. Giles was also horrendously exposed defensively and snuffed out - just as at Burnley.

Hackney and Akpom looked our best players by an absolute mile.

Agree about Hackney and Akpom. Hackney looked assured even against higher level opposition and Akpom added a nice bit of physicality to his technical game.

Jones looked like his problem is 100% confidence. Didn't look like he wanted the ball if there was even the slightest bit of pressure, and at times seemed to be watching rather than participating. Hopefully that can be addressed successfully as I still see him as a real asset to us.

Some incredibly harsh revisionism going on here. He has been a very good player for us who has unselfishly played a number of different positions for us and always just got on with it. Along with being a pretty much ever present and playing for N Ireland every game as well.

Then yesterday after not playing for a couple of months he gets thrown in last minute against an excellent Brighton team. Not surprising if he then struggled.
