Pele on end of life care

Yeah hat tricks against local bin men and road sweepers. No club football in Europe puts him behind Maradona for me. Messi probably ahead of both with relative ease.
”Bin men and roadsweepers”. Could you be anymore sneering? It is impossible to compare players from different eras for the obvious reasons. The fact is though that when you are so far above the rest of your peers in terms of skill and achievement you have to be very special indeed.

I never saw Pele play sadly. I have been fortunate enough to see Best, Maradonna and Messi play and Best has been still the only player who I ever thought was jaw dropping with talent.

Edited this after realising the thread it’s posted on. I got a rollocking from Admin about disrespectfulness on this thread and in hindsight that’s fair. Apologies to anyone who I offended. Pele is an obvious great and I wish him all the very best.

It was a hyperbolic statement designed to denigrate the overall standard of South America football. You’re mistaking it for a personal attack on people. It’s all about opinions. If you don’t think Messi and Maradonna (sic) are “dripping with talent” then that’s yours.
A statement nonetheless which lacks a bit of self awareness on your part frankly given the thread title.

And why did you introduce the word "dripping" there? Not a word I used.

Very sad if true. I like many was part of that era when Pele was coming to the end of his career and all we had was snips of his goals in the US (NY Cosmos).

Despite his retirement back then the newsreels were still full of his activities, not just in sport but also with FIFA, governments and NGOs.

After reflecting on Brazil’s performance in this years WC, I find it somewhat puzzling why Brazil played so poorly when they have so many gifted individuals, who often want to emulate the efforts of Pele, but sadly they fall way short of Brazil teams from the 20th century.

Pele will (for me at least) be the father of the people’s game, a true ambassador as he only looked at the game at the grassroots levels and how the game could help impoverished people and communities. That’s why he was probably labeled the king of the game . A truly great person.

Would have graced any footballing time.
If football is art Pele is a masterpiece, timeless beauty.
To transcend these days of mass saturated social media and remain at the pinnacle of his art speaks for itself.
Much like Ali, he will be forever cherished.
