People not from the Teesside area, and without a Teesside family connection, following the Boro

I've always thought they were rare specimens.
Notable examples would be the legendary Yusuf, WeeGord from FMTTM (I think), and an Australian guy we met at Norwich a few seasons ago(his only connection was his affection for Mark Viduka back in the day).
Are there many out there?
(Following on from the 'mixed bunch of Boro fans on the train out of Cardiff' thread).

Hatched in the East Midlands, kidnapped by Boro at Teesside Poly - held underground in captivity on Southfield Road, Linthorpe Rd Halls of Resdidence and Cambridge Rd.
My mates lad isnt a Boro lad - but hes fanatical: him and his South Yorkshire pal follow us everywhere!
I even know a bloke from Stockton who`s a Boro Gold Card holder (y)

Born and raised in an East Durham mining village, grew up in a 95% mackem stronghold but never had any affiliation to them ever. Was always a massive football fan, but no real link to any one team.

Mate got a job at North Tees Hospital, started going to games with lads he worked with, took me and my brother and 35 ish years on the rest is history.

Now, moved away from the area 23 years ago, and both of my kids are Boro fans (as are my brother's kids).

Be too easy for them to attach themselves to Man City due to my wife's family ties but despite my daughter having a wobble at high school (I flatly refused to take her to a City game) all turned out well in the end.

👍

Few on here might know him as he goes to a lot of away games, but lad called Minty from Wolverhampton. Seem to remember the story he told me (many years ago like!) that I think his uncle it was, took him to a Wolves games when he was a kid and they got beat, so he said to his Uncle he was going to start supporting the next team who played Wolves at home. Been a glory follower ever since. :ROFLMAO:

Great fella though.

Born in Kent, moved to Middlesbrough when I was 5. Parents were from Leeds and loyal fans, I swore my allegiance to Boro in the playground. Moved away from the area aged 9 and have lived in the East Midlands and South West since, and kept my loyalty to the Boro.
After 45 years away, I returned for the first time a few years ago and absolutely loved revisiting my old haunts around Stokesly/ Hutton Rudby. I love the area, people, sense of humour. Living near Middlesbrough was the happiest time of my life.

I grew up in Eat Durham village Wingate, same as you mostly Makem... dad worked ICI Billingham in the 60s/70s and dragged me along in 1969

Born in London, raised in Newton Aycliffe. Dad from Middleton St George, he would go to watch Boro one week, Darlo the next back in the 50s before he went in the RAF. Thankfully, he took me and my brother to Boro v Derby in 1978 and we've never looked back! Ally my mates are either Geordies or Mackems 😳

I found myself at AP with a lad I went to school with. He was living with his grandparents to do his GSCE'S as his dad was in the Army and we both travelled from Shildon on the X14 bus when we were about 15 I think. Not sure about Matty's connect to the Boro though but I have no connection to the area.

I know a lad from Northern Ireland who posts on here from time to time who has no connection either to Boro. Think he said he picked Boro out of the paper or something like that. And I know a Dutch lad, although not seen him in years, who had a season ticket when he lived down here in Manchester. His favourite player a s akid was Brian Robson and so started following Boro becuase of him.
