Pesky lefty BBC

The oft used attack that the BBC is run by a bunch of woke lefties and is politically biased against the Tories can be consigned to the dogturrd bin where it belongs, once and for all.
I’d hazard a guess that Maitlis was well placed to know such things.

‘“Put this in the context of the BBC Board, where another active agent of the Conservative party – former Downing Street spin doctor, and former adviser to BBC rival GB News – now sits, acting as the arbiter of BBC impartiality.”’

And for those who will say ‘pffft….The Guardian…..’ Watch what she said for yourself, if The Guardian reporting is too lefty for you.

I don't think anyone says that the news content is left wing. You only have to look at the people involved. They are all typical Tories. The entertainment side is very left though, particularly the comedy.

Incredibly loads do. Or at least used to. Perhaps increasingly less so since the fat idiot got into power. There'll still be plenty who think like that though because they've been told to think like that.

Some of BBC's content is quite left I suppose, but the news certainly isn't and neither was Tory Laura, the political correspondent.

Having left content just loads the bullet into the gun for the right, but the news and political commentary is the actual problem, as that's what fires it, and actually riles up the hate.

I liked the point about when there were economical debates about Brexit and climate debates etc, that there was often one from either side, this is a big problem as it implies false equivalence, especially to those who are not clued up. If you can only have two guests/ experts and 90% of experts are saying it's going to be bad, then both experts you pick should be on the bad side, not one from the bad side and one saying it will all be rosy.

This has been going on since Cameron's time and Maitlis was quite comfortable going along with it wasn't she?
I suppose everyone has a job, and wants a job which can support the lifestyle they're accustomed to, but everyone has a breaking point, I suppose now is much worse, like it is for a lot of things.

I've made the point about false equivalence before, all done under the name of "impartiality".

If the Tories have 10 scandals break in a day and labour have 1 (obviously an exaggerated example to make the point), then you have to reflect that in the reporting to be "impartial". But the BBC have long taken the approach that if there's an article that reflects badly on the government, they need to try and fit one in about labour for "balance".

The panorama episode about partygate was a great example. About 15 mins of it were dedicated to "beergate", presumably for "balance". Farcical really, but it'll have worked on some people, making them think what Johnson and co. maybe wasn't that bad after all and/or that "they're all the same".

BBC news is pretty much state propaganda these days ( just trying to pretend it isn't)

Definitely worse now and yep, easy to say journalists should speak out but easier said than done when it'll probably cost you your job or even career.

It's not like it's a clear cut scandal she's called out, it's all smoke and mirrors stuff that's easy for the powers that be to dismiss as just her perception of things etc.

She's spoken out now at least, I doubt it'll get much traction though.

I think it reached its peak during the years of Corbyn's leadership when just about anything went unchallenged.
