What I don’t understand is given that the it was once reported that BAME are more affected by covid - why then would only 28% of that group be planning to take the vaccine.

ive heard more people than I’d expect say that they won’t get the vaccine, surely unless there are medical reasons that you can’t then it’s a no brainer?

Not just there. My son-in-law is FDNY and, as a first responder, has had his, but more than 50% of them are Trumpers and don't believe in it, so they are refusing it.

I expect that is true but don’t these people have the common sense to do their own research rather than believe the fake stories found on Facebook and the like.

I was watching the press preview last night on sky and the journalist from liverpool echo even stated that vaccine roll out we are way ahead of europe which are not doing a great job of it. There are few reports kicking about saying we are making a mess of it but i think thats political point scoring. Long may these numbers continue

People doing their own research rather than accepting the opinions of scientists who have devoted their lives to researching viruses is exactly why the fake stories on Facebook and the like are able to spread.

Who were in test group? This may concern minority groups.

Often trials tend to be more with males and a high proportion of common groups in a population such as white in the UK. Males are easier to test because they only have one X chromozone so tend to have less volatile results. Its also why more males are dying from Covid. A second X chromozone gives extra protection against Covid. That second chromozone does make testing more difficult. Its like having 11 reserves that you bring on, without taking any one off in a footie game.

Testing mainly males can in some cases have deadly consequences for some women say when women are pregnant and taking a drug mainly tested on men. There is one for epilepsy which now has a warning for pregnant women if they take it there is a 50% chance their baby will be born with problems but for years there was no warning.

Heart disease in women in quite a common cause of death, because problems are harder to spot so when there is a problem its more fatal.

Pharma companies are under pressure to get new drugs approved, there will be always a tendency to use sample people who are more straight forward and quicker to test. They may ther money on drugs under patent i.e new drugs. Its not conspiracy, its business and statistics. The current vaccine will work for over 90% of the population but not everyone. I have come off a drug because it had bad side effects for me, but its ok for most people.

Often we balance the bad and good effects of medical treatments e.g. chemotherapy is a very nasty treatment and bad for our bodies, but the alternative is often death.

Exactly this. The government are offering vaccines to 80 year olds that have to travel 90 miles for their shot and don't turn up. Stocks are being thrown away due to this. They should be offered to the staff at the vaccination center then anyone walking by.

I can't believe people are actually criticising the government on the vaccine role out ffs Yes they've got plenty wrong in the pandemic (as have all governments) but you cannot seriously be critical of this.
The UK vaccine roll out is nothing short of phenomenal. If you think otherwise look at what is happening (or not happening) in the rest of Europe. Even uber efficient Germany are forecasting that they won't achieve similar rates to the UK until summer. That is "rates" not number of people vaccinated.

As for people deciding not to have it I can only point to our own experience. (again).
My father had his first dose of the vaccine the week before Christmas. He was admitted to hospital on Christmas Day for an unrelated illness. Whilst in hospital he contracted Covid and was sent home to isolate on New Years Eve. He is now fully recovered having had only, relatively, minor symptoms. He is 88 with health issues and I am convince that the first dose of the vaccine has prevented him from serious illness or worse as a result of having contracted Covid. It's not even up for debate for me. As soon as I get the nod I'll be there.

That doesn’t really make sense - are you suggesting that it’s not a good idea to get the vaccine or are you suggesting that because someone’s political affiliations are different to yours that they somehow cannot comment on any issues. Far to much of that on this board this week.

Where are these stocks being thrown away? What you suggest is almost precisely what happened in 2 centres near me for the Pfizer jab. 3 Day shelf like and the centres have the police and Fire Brigade on call to use up any no shows every night.

I've noted over the years how common it is for working clsss Tory voters to demand of people something that they're incapable of themselves.
