Phenomenal Effort if the guys figures are correct.

The decision to delay the second vaccination may turn out to be a masterstroke, or maybe not, time will tell on that decision.

Increasing the time before the 2nd jab against Pfizer's advice is the main reason ppl are refusing or prevaricating about having the 1st jab (based on messages on my surgery's FB/twitter).

Kuepper, I did look in to this and the evidence to my untrained eye looks inconclusive and the advice the government got was that if the vaccination behaves like others it will be OK to leave the second jab for 12 weeks. There is some assumptions being made.

I have no idea whether its the right thing or not, time will tell I guess.

In fairness it's a collective effort by the UK and its people. Government, NHS, Volunteers, Military, Pharmacists, Businesses loaning their properties etc. I expect us to more than hit the numbers. Amazing what can be achieved when everyone comes together

"the government" are blamed or praised for a great many things they have little to no impact on. People just like to apportion blame for stuff rather than find out why stuff happens. They also like to argue with other people who hold opposing views. We are competitive animals.
100 per cent agree.

I've noted over the years how common it is for working clsss Tory voters to demand of people something that they're incapable of themselves.

If you delete the words ‘working’ ‘class’ and ‘tory’ then you could be right Corcaigh 👍 no need to thank me for the correction. The original statement might be perceived as bigoted otherwise by some, it also applies to people like the Corbyn brothers (for example). I seem to think even they have demanded something of folk that they are incapable of themselves too, as probably has every breathing human at some point.

Exactly this. The government are offering vaccines to 80 year olds that have to travel 90 miles for their shot and don't turn up. Stocks are being thrown away due to this. They should be offered to the staff at the vaccination center then anyone walking by.
There was a GP's practice manager interviewed last week on the radio. They have a reserve list made up of staff in local pharmacies within 15 minutes drive. If people can't make their appointment they ring and get a reserve in. Her backup plan was to knock on doors in the neighbouring street as she was desperate to ensure no doses were wasted.
