Phobias

Heights for me and it is worse the older I get. Cant even watch someone up high on tv when I am sat on the sofa.

Another one is a fear of message boards after your football team has lost. I think it may be called Ofookiphobia or something like that.

😁

Birds for me - not at a distance, in fact I quite like watching birds. But if I have to touch one I am physically shaking. I don't know why but it's something about the fluttering and unpredictability. I'm getting better though through overexposure as our cat is bringing in several live ones a week :ROFLMAO:

Heights too, but only if there's a rail I could chuck myself over. Went up the tallest lighthouse in France - there was a spiral staircase up the inside of it with a massive drop down the middle and I was sweating.
One of my mates is petrified of birds ( I mean big style ) and at one of the cup finals we actually persuaded him to visit Trafalgar Square one afternoon.
What he didn’t know is we acquired a large bag of bird seed and accordingly covered him generously from behind .
Oh how we laughed when he became a human bird feeder running across the square screaming .🦅

I’ve got a peculiar one . I can’t stand anything on my wrists , neck or ankles . Cannot bear sleeves , watches , collars and can just about tolerate socks . I’m sure in a former life I was brutally incarcerated in chains

That’s crazy, do you wear shorts and vest all year round?

I find phobias weird, I don’t have any so obviously don’t understand them, although I can see it’s obviously an irrational thing that even those with phobias probably don’t understand.

The most common phobia that I hear people mention is needles / injections. Seems that a lot of people don’t like them.

I can concur with the buttons thing- I slowly worked my way through it as I got older, but even now I hate seeing fully fashioned 1960's style cardigans on a woman.

Snakes are my thing. Somehow I managed to deal with a major angry snake incident when I lived in Thailand but I have no idea how. I shudder thinking about it.

Lemmy- that public info film about the spirit is genuinely terrifying anyway, faceless or otherwise. It certainly did it's job.

I hate heights, unless I am in an enclosed room or plane etc in which case i am absolutely fine. Actually, I am not sure whether it is heights (acrophobia) that is therefore the fear or whether its the fear of falling (basophobia), probably the latter i suppose. I also don’t like spiders, but I can at least deal with them when I need to.
Opposite, don't mind heights but being on a plane no no no (aviophobia).
Also Thalassophobia unless I'm on a vessel.

Supermarkets. Only the big ones. I can’t go in the big ones. Aldi/Lidl I’m ok with it but the big ones I just go blind, I get really bad trolley rage and I can’t physically identify anything on shelves.
