Phoebe Bridgers..............................hysteria

Has anybody caught the Phoebe Bridgers tour yet. Went to Manchester of Sunday and it was verging on hysteria at times. Granted I did not have the best seat(beggars can't be choosers it was difficult to get any tickets) but at times it seems like I had the whole of the Apollo singing in front of me and it was difficult to here anything coming from the stage. That was on the more popular songs like Motion Sickness and Kyoto etc. It was better on the less known numbers. The audience screamed everytime she moved, turned her back or struck a chord on the guitar. I was expecting the Beatles to walk onstage.
Also strange that about 75% of the audience were female which I have no issues with but its just a reverse of your normal rock gig. All seem to enjoy it immensely.

I love Phoebe Bridgers so I am so happy she is receiving this level of support but it does not make for great viewing for a deaf old git like me. On the plus side it did mean that Apsley Cottage Inn on the side of the Apollo was virtually empty given the age group of many of the audience. I had given it a miss at first but there is literally no other pubs close by although a few when walking from town.

Anyway off to Brixton on Friday to see her again and as I am standing in Stalls shoud be able to get somewhere were I can hear.

Check her out if you don't know her she is amazing.

Teenage girls absolutely love her. My (17 year old) daughter saw her in Birmingham the Sunday after she'd played Glastonbury. I like her albums too after getting into her via Conor Oberst/Better Oblivion Community Center. In fact we're back to Birmingham together to see Bright Eyes in September. Less screaming I hope but a nice thing for us to do together that we can both enjoy despite the 30 year age gap.

Phoebe was very vocal at Glastonbury as a number of female artists were on the goings on with the Supreme Court.

Fantastic artist

Good job this thread made me check my ticket wallet. I'm now looking forward to seeing her on Friday, the date my ticket is actually for.

I've learned the hard way not to go and see any musical act whose main fanbase is teenage girls. The screaming does my head in. Especially when the lead singer is male and the crowd tries to sing along but they have to go up an octave and it becomes utterly painful.

I have never heard of her but googled her after reading this thread.

I'm quite impressed her web site is actually called phoebefuckinghbridgers.com

I listened to one song on Youtube, Sidelines, it doesn't inspire me to listen to another one if that is typical of her output.

Oh you lucky folks
Missed out on tickets and she was on my must see list at Glasto - before that all went pear shaped for me

Hey ho - roll on Bill Callahan for me later this year at Roundhouse

Try these, if you don't like them then don't look any further!

In a similar vein try Lucy Dacus, Samantha Crain, Phoebe Green, Laura Stevenson, Aldous Harding, Lauran Hibberd and Katy J Pearson.

Phoebe is excellent and her fanbase has grown exponentially during lockdown, agree that the Galstonbury performance was brilliant.

I saw her a few years back supporting Conor Oberst in Edinburgh, very stripped down set but you could tell then she would go on to bigger things. Joined Conor later for a few covers (one of which being the excellent "Jack at the Asylum") - think the seeds for Better Oblivion were sown on that tour.
