Let’s also remember they’ve been lied to.
Brexit was their big hope, it was going to fix everything. It was going to create equality, stop immigration, create opportunity, make cost of living cheaper…..but it was a sham, it did the exact opposite to all of these things. I’d be amazed if any significant % of the violent rioters or even protestors were remain voters.
Enough is enough I first heard in Brexit vote, take our country back was used then. They feel cheated by it. They hate Labour (#neverlabour!!) because they’ve been lied to that Labour stoped the Tories enacting a good deal. They hate the Tories because everything has got worse since Brexit. Reform have started to fill that gap…despite them effectively being a rebranded UKIP who also lied to them.
These people feel lied to, so rioting prevails. They feel that the Brexit they wanted and voted for hasn’t been delivered and the general election result is going to row it back further….but the fact is what they were promised is a pipe dream that will never be delivered for multiple reasons. We have to have strong trade relations or we will be poorer, we have a gdp shortfall because of brexit, our goods and cost of living will be higher, we can’t magically ‘stop the boats’. Rwanda plan is pointless.
We need to address the rhetoric that was used, who it was used by and why, that has now converted previously politically apathetic people into radicalised terrorists.
….and before anyone starts, no I’m not calling all leave voters racists or rioters…I’m calling all rioters racist and almost exclusively not remain voters. There’s a clear rhetoric shared from Brexit and rioters
