playoff semi-final dates

Who started this windup, it's always been the Monday and it still is.
Not exactly always. Only one of the last five. Last year it was on the Sunday, in 2021 it was in the Saturday, and in 2020 (admittedly for exceptional reasons) it was in August. 2019 was the BH Monday, 2018 the Saturday.

But it was deffo listed as Monday for this year on the EFL website until a week or so ago.

Exactly, that is why loads of people provisionally booked hotels, and Wembley are advertising VIP packages for the Championship Play Off Final on Mon 29th May, are the EFL going to try and make out that all those fans were just seeing things and it was always advertised as any of the dates over that Bank Holiday weekend?

Why the **** would they not publish a date then stick to it?
The EFL must be unbelievably dim and clearly don't give a damn about impact on hundreds of thousands of supporters not knowing the day of their final.

I fear you make the mistake of assuming the EFL have the tiniest concern about the fans. When have they ever given that impression?

That shouldn't make a difference to play off final dates should it? Doesn't matter who is in it, the date will be the date.
So, whilst I was just being daft yesterday, someone posted this on another thread.....

"It's because Sheffield United have made the semi of the FA cup (and potentially could make the final) and if they also get to the play off final this gives them a full week in between the games."

Maybe the EFL know something we don't about the 'likelihood' of Sheffield United being in the play-off final? ;)

There's the whole of London to choose from. PLenty of hotels priced at decent (for London) rates which are refundable.

I changed my booking from Monday to Saturday yesterday (based on what had been said on this thread) and it worked out £20 cheaper!!!

Would still like to cancel it for the right reason though.

Oh dear... I had hotels booked thinking it was 29th, luckily free cancellation.

Also, prices have gone up and less availability

Hotel booked for the Friday and Saturday night now, free cancelation and only £200, 20 minutes on the tube to Wembley. Result!
Now to cancel the Sunday night I'd booked this morning before the announcement!!
