Does anybody know why taking the knee is allowed , looking at the attached article uefa is politically neutral and has banned the support for lgbt - did taking the knee get some sort of special exemption.

Why does this offend you?

Maybe you should be renaming this thread "Why are UEFA blocking Pride support?" and query when we know footballers are afraid to come out due to homophobic abuse and why aren't the authorities supporting them rather than twisting an issue of sexuality back to one of race.

They haven't banned support for LGBT - they have banned what is a political gesture by Germany in taking a swipe at Hungary over their decision making.

Point me to the part where I said it offends me - it surprises me that they make exceptions to their own rules for one worthy cause but then go out of their way to enforce their “no politics rule” for another.

Interesting you choose ‘why haven’t they stopped the knee’ rather than ‘why haven’t they allowed the lighting up of the stadium’

uefa have given a reason (I don’t agree), which is fair enough. It does not relate anyway to the knee. Uefa have given alternative for the Germans to light up the stadium in future.

are you also saying the kickitout should be stopped too?

I’m absolutely not saying anything should be stopped - as mentioned I don’t understand why they allow one and not the other as mentioned.

Orban is a right wing nutter. Hungary has just introduced a new anti-paedophile law which is great except it impacts adversely on its LGBT community. Germany wanted to support that community with the light show, Orban objected and Uefa has supported him.

Uefa hasn’t supported Orban, they’ve just sat on the fence

I suppose their is an argument by not allowing it they are inadvertently supporting Orban
