Pop Up Feedback II

The pop-up videos seem to have disappeared so I'm venturing back, and signing in to FMTTM. The website was unavailable for a large part yesterday so assume the developers have rectified the hack violation.

Hack violation?
When was that?
 
The adverts are not a hack. Or any kind of viral attack. They are planned. And can all be switched off by pressing the nearby cross.
We need to work on reducing the frequency but am also hoping to increase the Boro video content like my video of the Carling Cup ceefax advert outside the Riverside. We are hoping they are successful enough to help the site be more sustainable.

They are intrusive and a pain in the backside. Please get rid of them.
 
The simple fact is video ads will drive users away. They'll either stop posting, or they will install adblocks and then there will be no revenue at all.

Adding ever more intrusive ads under the guise of keeping the site alive is a snake eating its tail, as reach plc has found out.

As with any business, customers need to be listened to. The ads might seem a great way to make money, but not if they slowly drive customers away. But Rob has the data so can balance one against the other and decide what is best for him.

What exactly is that ceefax video advertising?
And I'm sick of hearing how much John Eustace loves his new strikers.
Or about Toby Greene's latest act.
Though I do quite like the Blackpool fans chanting away behind their crowd surfer.

I don't know the link between the ads and revenue so am guessing here. But if revenue is produced when someone clicks on an add then Rob could say how many clicks a day makes the site viable. With 600 visitors a day I imagine the number needed could easily be exceeded.

I would ask you to support please. Am trying to work out ways to continue a service. I will obviously reduce frequency of the ads after bank holiday. But the site has to generate money..

No. Not clicks on the advert - but visibility of the advert.
It has been set up wrongly before the Bank Holiday - it should not be appearing at the rate it is.
 
What are the rules RE: custom avatars? Trying to change mine and no matter what I do it just says "Oops! We ran into some problems. Please try again later. More error details may be in the browser console."

We paid for a new firewall earlier this year - but it doesn't seem to like avatars. The secuirty level is very high but the customer service they offer isn't good.
 
Yeah, I couldn't really figure out what the issue was, thought it might be file size but I kept reducing it down but none worked, and then I added the Forss one again and that one did work so dunno what the issue is.
