Positives:

Positives: Ayala will be back soon. Fry after that? Roberts should be back in time to make a difference. Woodgate is not afraid to make changes and he’s making lots of mistakes (hopefully he’s learning from them) Coulson and Tavernier were positive tonight and I though Clayton and Shotton did well after a spell out. We can play Howson and McNair in defence it is possible and hopefully whatever Spence has done or hasn’t done he is young enough to turn it round and get back on the front foot. Raval has the potential to be a great player still hopefully he can realise what he needs to do to unlock that potential. Pears is solid. Plus we have a bit of extra cash in the kitty from the Braithwaite going to Barca. I think Woodgate needs to be brave and do what has to be done. I also thing the players need to be brave when they step out into that pitch and especially in and around the box.

Nah, Woodgate needs to go. No more lame excuses.

Look at my form thread NZ, it'll be over before we go to Hillsborough at the rate we are plummeting.
Could well be right Dood, I keep thinking that next match will see them realise that they are in the sh*te and turn it around, but just hasn't happened.

Looking at our remaining fixtures, and saw that we have a final game away to Sheff Wed. Shades of 88/89?
We had a cracking Christmas, beating Man U, Southampton away and drawing with Spurs.
Things went downhill from there, losing to Luton, Millwall, Charlton, Forest & Sheff Wed, drawing with QPR, before the end of the season, going down 3rd bottom by 1 point.

Think we played Villa at New Year and would have went second if we won. Got beat 2-0 ended up losing at Sheff We'd 1-0. We were never in bottom three until ten to give on final day of season.

We were a far better, much more coherent side with a top manager in 88/89. Comparison with Southgate in 2007/8 is good though..

And if we do go down, we ain't got a Rioch in charge. And there are no Pallisters, Mowbrays, Slavens and Ripleys to call upon. Not that I can see anyway. The future is grim for damn sure, and reading the Gazette on line tonight Wooden Top isn't gonna walk any time soon.

Problem with Southgate comparison is we were good for 1st half of the season and dropped like a stone. This we’ve been crap all season

Yep, completely agree there. Comparison was more to do with the teams we have yet to play, form over the Christmas period and who we play last, and where.

Mowbray was rightly sacked once his side entered free fall. I cannot believe Woodgate still has the role. 10 games without a win and now only out of the bottom three on goal difference.

If Boro go down the club is ****ed. Crowds down to 12 - 14k and a fire sale of any player that has value.

Most of us know if we go down, Gibson won't change the way the club is run so we will be struggling to match the likes of Portsmouth, Peterborough and Doncaster as well as whoever goes down with us.

You only have to look at Bolton, Coventry, Portsmouth, Bradford and Notts County if you think League One will be our nadir. We will be haemorrhaging debt even more in league one, stuck with the likes of Britt and Saville on big wages playing to under 10k crowds. Any decent young players will be picked off at a fraction of their value. Times have changed since 1986!
