Postecoglou to Spurs ?

He’s 57
Therefore when you consider big Roy Hodgson he’s just a pup 🤣

The guy looks like a winner to me and I expect him to do well. Players at Celtic did very well and they are championship level but performed above that (!)

Yeah be interesting to see how he does, certainly wouldn’t class him as one for the future he’s been around the block around the world. If he does well at Spurs though he could have a good end to his career at the highest level

He reminds me of an aussie sean dyche. Think he will make initial impact at spurs but fade ala brendan rodgers at leicester

Promising appointment, although surprised Spurs went for him. Has done well in Greece, Aussie land, Japan and Scotland. Obviously a level below EPL, but proved he can be successful across a range of different environments. Will be a tough job, but why can't he be successful?

Because it's Tottenham.

Be interested to see how he does.

Always hard to judge what sort of job a manager has done when it's based on managing one of those two.
They will also often get considerably less time as as soon as they have hit a bad run they immediately look like they can’t cut it in the PL.

Let’s face it, Spurs have had a decent enough last 15-20 years, won almost nothing, but I fully expect them to slip out of the “big 6” very soon, especially once Kane leaves and they have to replace him with Dominic Calvert-Lewin or someone. Postecoglu is a big step down from the sort of appointments they’ve made in recent years. I’ll give him til February, and even then that’ll mean he’s not done bad.

Because Spurs fans will expect him to be top 4, and any one taking the job would struggle with that.

Celtic fans can't grasp why managers want to leave to go to a better league

Constantly ******* on **** teams with a 20th of their budget is obviously not all it is cracked up to be

I mean, Celtic won the scottish cup final against Inverness on Saturday and Inverness are probably conference standard at best

Why would you even bother celebrating if you were a Celtic fan, its almost pathetic to think it's some achievement

Postecoglou - they've tried the really successful, top draw, managers & now they've gone to a successful at less noted footballing standard countries, leagues & clubs - time will tell, though I just don't think he'll cut it..

Players will listen to him, judge him & always be thinking - WTF - are you? he's not serial winner Jose, he's not multiple title winner Conte.. they all were failed by Levy, so why should Primarklou be a hit?

No matter who they get, Levy will undermine them. He will be a yes man which none of the best managers are. 2 year contract says it all really.

No one except fans care about the size of a club. Not fans, not managers.
Occasionally an incoming player or manager will comment on the size of a club to ingratiate themselves to a fan base, but they've all actually signed for higher wages or to play at a higher level.

I genuinely don't think Spurs fans will expect top 4 in his first season.
They will realise that City, Arsenal, Man U and Newcastle all finished above them, will spend more than them and be a bigger pull than them.
They will realise that Liverpool are going to strengthen and that Chelsea have a better squad before they spend again. Villa will be a bigger threat to those clubs than Spurs next season.

I don't think Spurs fans are deluded.

Postecoglou comes across as a really decent fella, and his CV is pretty impressive too. Had success wherever he's been.

But. The Spurs job is more than coming in and just tweaking a few things. It's a fairly decent size rebuild, lot of average players there on decent contracts .....who they have paid a few quid for. Ins/outs will be interesting especially if Kane goes to Real Madrid (if you believe the rumours).

Lot of pressure on him to deliver, probably made worse because Arsenal are looking like a top 3 team. Fans (unrealistic) expectations added to this.

Sure Levy will give him till mid October to have a CL spot secured otherwise.........

I know a few, they’re mostly very deluded in my experience. I don’t know any who will be saying 8th is a decent season with the old Celtic manager. I could really see them returning to their 90s levels of mid-table every season.

8th wouldn't be a decent season.

It's where they finished this year and it was a disaster of a season.

But the fact they've finished 8th this year, and they've got a huge rebuild on their hands, eases the pressure quite a bit on Postecoglou.

Even 7th is an improvement on this season, though I doubt many would be impressed with it.
If he gets them back in to Europe, and playing good football, he's probably given himself time for another season at the minimum.
