Potential Signings

Ben Pearson would be a great signing from AFCB on a permanent.
Age 28 tomorrow, he can do the Howson role with ease.
Quality player in the championship. Not getting a game , him or Joe Rothwell would suit us.

Thoughts on all this ballox surrounding Chuba?
Reporters gaggling about Southampton, Everton++++
We have a year extention option.
Hope he tells the sniffers to foxtrot oscar.
Have the feeling Michael Carrick wont want to give away our best players.(y)
I think his agent will already be in the clubs ear about a new contract, so I would take these reports with a pinch of salt.

Always happens in these situations doesn't it. I'm sure plenty of clubs will have been looking at Chuba, as you would expect for the divisions top scorer, but there's a whole world of difference between that and actually having a firm interest.

I'd prefer Rothwell to be honest.

What about Siriki Dembele? A player that they signed to go up, and now doesn't get a kick? Would be a good option in those 3 behind the striker roles. Doubt he would cost much as I think they signed him with just 6 months left on his contract, so they haven't got much invested

I would take Dembele for LW competition no problem , I am sure he has been considered . Rothwell is decent also , but both getting game time more than Pearson so less likely they will let them go. Both came on as subs yesterday so doubt they will move on yet.

A midfielder who can tackle and boss the game is a must, we saw against Burnley that a powder puff midfield is a serious weakness against the better teams in this league. It’s something we’ve missed for a long time since Adam Clayton’s legs went following promotion.

Archer and Barlaser seen sharing out the bacci at Pond Street Bus Station last night - waiting for the National Express 133 Service.
Archer was peeling his "I love Villa" sticker off his Gola Travel - Bag

Reading through this thread, 2 players that stand out for me as cracking signings would be Garner and Rothwell.

The most realistic one (Barlaser) i'd also be very pleased with, for anyone who hasn't seen him play......don't be fooled by the fact he plays for Rotherham - he's an excellent player.

Pearson 215 mins
Dembele 78 mins
Rothwell 41 mins

Pearson 215 mins
Dembele 78 mins
Rothwell 41 mins
Dembele 78 minutes as a bit part player lately
Rothwell 41 minutes as a bit part player lately

Pearson 214 minutes BUT apart from 2 minutes , the rest was before 27.8.22 which means he has not had game time since august so not in their immediate plans (, on the bench so match fit for the last 3 month ) therefore more likely to be available do you think Mart ?
I actually think all 3 will be made available this window , AFCB will buy to try to stay up .
All 3 would be nice 👍

I can’t see is going for Rothwell, missed the boat with Ben Pearson too. Siriki might be a go’er..

Jack Stacey is out of contract in the summer.. we were in for him at some point.. right back can play defensive midfield. Maybe?

what we wouldn't give for a Gaston Ramirez type player these days.

Maybe Stuani fancies another crack at the Riverside?

Oh yeah, the man from fray bentos scored 7 goals in his half season with us.. Chuba has managed 13 so far and he wasn’t being played in his best position.

You could say the same about Stuani with his 7 goals in a full championship season..
Matt Crooks is up to 6 already

He’re to the 2nd half of the season and our players getting the plaudits they deserve!

FYI Grant Leadbitter scored 4 in that season, Jordan Rhodes 6, I’d fancy Dan Barlaser and Jordan Archer to bring a similar haul.

Could we see David Nugent numbers coming from Ross Stewart or the contributions of Diego Fabbrini presented in the form of Siriki Dembele?

I’d go for Barlasser on a permanent move and if we need a striker, let’s buy one. **** giving clubs players game time here, if Villa love Archer so much then let them play him. Boils my ****, the loan market stinks, it allows clubs to hoard players. I’d rather stay where we are then give Villa a leg up by improving their players.

I still stand by the point I make.
Will you be annoyed if Coburn comes back and scores 20 and Hemming is our No 1 as we go up as champions? After gaining experience in the lower leagues?

Did seeing Downing play in europe for us or for England feel tainted by his spell in the league below to gain experience?

There's plenty to be annoyed about in modern football, mainly financial. But promising kids dropping to a lower level for experience will never be one that annoys me when we do it and reap the benefits ourselves.

Who off our bench do you think would have got more assists than Giles this season?

Currently plying his trade in Serie C I believe, staggering for a player of his talent (and he's only 32!)

One of my favourites of the Riverside era, we'll struggle to better that Bournemouth goal.
