Just read the witness statement from Martin Duffy's son from the investigation into his death.

A really moving and well written statement from such a young lad who has obviously had a lot to deal with in the last year or so.

But, my god Bobby Gillespie and Andrew Innes do not come out of this well. How can greed affect people so much that they can treat and band member for 30yrs in such a terrible way at a time when he clearly needed them. Money really is the root of all evil!

Seems that it might be a bit of a recurring theme when it comes to BG. Certainly won't be paying any money to see them in the future.

Just finished reading the statement...that's a hard read. Think they need to respond in kind somehow or this is them finished. Heard the same rumours when Denise Johnson UGO but those seemed to disappear quickly so you maybe thought that they were just rumours...but when it's in black and white like that it's hard not to believe it. Stick on the naughty shelf with Morrissey and Ian Brown then 🤔

Just read that the Manics still put 25% of royalties into a trust fund so that Richey Edwards' family still receive money 28yrs after he vanished.

Now that is how to treat a band mate. It really shouldn't be too hard should it. Take note BG

Was following this yesterday on Twitter. For a musician like Duffy to be treated as a pay by gig, session guy is wrong on so many levels when you know what he contributed to the PS sound. Unbelivable.

It's really wound me up and I'm not even a massive PS fan. Given the socialist values that the band have suposedly stood for over the years to treat an integral band member like this is appalling. Essentially a zero hours contract isn't it!

And if his drinking was causing such a problem then more support was needed.

The fact they didn't even turn up to his wake says it all doesn't it

Same with The Charlatans. I remember reading about Tim Burgess saying him and Mark Collins basically write all the songs but they credit them to the whole group "because we're mates".
Doesn't surpise me as Tim Burgess seems such a likeable guy. It's no surprise that bands like The Charlatans, Manics, SFA, Coldplay have kept a settled lineup for years using that sort of approach when PS have seen so many changes to the lineup.

Wow, that was a hard read. What a difficult thing is must have been for the young man to write.

As others have said before me, I'm not the world's biggest PS fan, but I (mistakenly) thought they would have behaved better than that.

Thank you for posting athn.

Indeed, but he's done a remarkable job.
Am sure his old man would be incredibly proud.

The outpouring of "what a to55er Bobby Gillespie is" stories on twitter have been great.

Favourite so far was "Shocked that Bobby Gillespie, who pointed at me in the front row and told the audience that I dance "like a toad", has turned out to be a jerk."
