QPR game to be rescheduled

Is there any official word on why this is happening yet?

Very few (if any?) people would be planning to attend both the funeral and an EFL fixture?

Is it to enable people to watch both? (Hint: get Sky +)

Is it a "mark of respect"?

It's sooo far out of my sphere of interest I'm genuinely baffled.

it's some old guys funeral, does it inconvenience if we're watching football while she is at a funeral?
They isn’t just you in the world but. More people are probably bothered about the funeral than watching football at the weekend. Quite a few royalists in the country

Maybe so broadcasters don’t have to report on the football at the same time as the funeral, and probably why it’s been moved forward rather than back

So blanket coverage of the funeral on all channels then?

Just seems odd that the feasibility of allowing both events to occur concurrently hasn't even been considered. I'm sure it's probably part of the protocol, by which a large section of the country are expected to behave differently or be inconvenienced by an event they have no interest. I mean I love the BBC's coverage of Glastonbury but at no point would I expect Michael Eavis to mandate that the BBC don't cover anything else all weekend.

I won’t watch the funeral and probably not the football. I just think it’s really easy to see why the decision has been made

If you think this is just my opinion then you're reading the room wrong

Maybe the EFL might be working with the TV companies, there may be a concern that Ifollow subscriptions may be vastly depleted due to the funeral, that may be the driving force???

So let me get this straight our 3.00pm game on Saturday has been moved to 12.30pm on Saturday???

Can somebody lend me molehill please cos I would like to make a mountain.

I think it's not the time it's been moved to (after Saturday's performance I couldn't care if it was moved 23 September 2025 to be honest) rather the reason it has been moved. It's (another) example of the establishment thinking they know what's best for the public where in my opinion people should have free choice as to how much their life is impacted by things they chose not to take part in. Essentially I'd be happy to not watch it, but now something I was planning to watch has been moved as result.

I also think it's massively overestimating the number of people who are genuinely interested. Tories going after their target demographic again I'm afraid.

What do we think viewing figures will be? I'll be amazed if 30% of the country tune in.

I'm not bothered whatsoever that it's been moved, it makes sense.

I just selfishly wished it was moved to another day.

I dont get this at all. I didnt wish any ill on the fella but I just dont understand why football games have to be moved just cos he is dead. It is an outdated system that is becoming increasingly irrelevant.
Let his family have their funeral but I wouldnt expect the Boro to postpone a game for my funeral and I have done more for the club than he ever did.
This fella wasnt any more imoprtant than the millions of other people in the country.
