Reading Festival 2000...

I was at that one. I knew I’d seen the foo fighters somewhere, probably here. What a waste of time Ian Brown was!

Fantastic line-up. Getting the likes of Eminem in 2000 was some coup. He was arguably the biggest music star in the world at that time. Certainly the English speaking world anyway. Other than that, the line-up is stacked full of quality people and bands.

I was at Reading the night Oasis and Primal Scream were on. There was a massive storm and lightning everywhere when Oasis were on.

I went to Leeds in 2002, my first ever festival. Guns n Roses first UK show in over 10 years. The Prodigy into Guns n Roses was an eye opener!

I went to Leeds in 2000, on the Saturday. I went to see Oasis but saw so many more great bands. Skipped Primal Scream to go and see Shed 7. I also won A ticket to go on the Saturday to Reading in 2002. Ash were immense.

A few years ago I realised that we’d left before the headliners because I was driving and didn’t want to get caught in the traffic. Then it dawned on me that we’d missed the Foos. Wasn’t until recently, when I looked at the Leeds lineup from 2000 that I had already seen them. Obviously left a lasting impression…

As an aside, I think the day ticket for Leeds in 2000 cost me ÂŁ25.
As another aside, the bassist from one of the bands was at uni with me the year before. A couple of months before Leeds festival, I bumped into him in in the pub in Walsall and asked him how he’d been. “Been living the rock and roll lifestyle” was his response. then he explained and said he was playing at Leeds so I said I’d see him there. I did and they were actually good. Shame they split up a couple of years later. They were a decent band.

For a reading festival the books look pretty ****, never heard of most of them, where's Moby d*ck or Huckleberry Finn?

A lot of future headliners on that 2000 line-up.

Foo Fighters, Blink 182, Eminem, RATM, Muse. Saw QOTSA in 2014 on the main stage, they're just about on that poster!

What was the name of the band?

Just seen this on twitter. 22 years ago today. Just look at the quality of that line up.....

Very good line up, but am I the only one looking at the line up and thinking, time travelling back, that I'd be getting most excited at catching some very underrated bands like the Clint Boon Experience, Gorky's Zygotic Mynki, Grandaddy, Kustom Built and Ooberman?
