Red Faction - Ticket Price Statement

Didn’t it go up by a quid or something? Let’s see what it is before people chastise the club. Things cost money and prices are only going up. It’s value for money to have a season ticket if you go 10 or so times a season.

Red Faction - whoever they are don’t speak for the club's fans’. They are a self appointed self regulated self serving group with a drum. I will await the club’s statement to its entire fan base before making comment. Getting a bit sick of RF flexing their muscles.

They are also one of the groups on the Official Boro Fans Forum - promoted and supported by the club:

The club "statement" is actually in this section of the club website - by virtue of every groups inclusion in the process.

You are clearly concerned about our club - why not join in and contribute your valued opinions?(y)

Middlesbrough Football Club is constantly striving to engage with our fans, and we have close links to a number of supporter groups.

The club attends meetings of the Middlesbrough Supporters Forum (MSF) to discuss wide ranging issues from an agenda driven by our different groups of supporters.

All supporter groups listed below are independent and are not run for or on behalf of MFC.

If we get promoted the club will not need to increase prices, because of increase TV money.

If we are not promoted the issue is how do MFC finance a £28m wages bill?

Obviously this needs to be balanced with what is affordable for an average fan.

Current walk up prices are expensive (£30 to £35 for an adult) and are at the top end of what is affordable for the average fan.

You can't expect/demand success by attracting and paying for the better players and not be prepared to contribute. Or do people expect someone else should pay for the privilege, I.e SG?
People are already contributing! We have some of the highest walk up prices in the country and our Season Ticket prices are the 2nd highest in the league behind Norwich City. This is despite the fact that Middlesbrough is one of the poorest parts of the country.

Nice thought but unfortunately not the reality. TV money should have kept things affordable for attending fans but instead it has been entirely 'devoured' by players/agents.

wow very hostile from you.... they are fans and they have formed a recognized supporters group. They show passion at every game and obviously love the club.

I really can't see how you turn that into a negative.

The we are the poorest doesn’t wash, people always turn up, you can’t afford it then you don’t go, it’s the sport and entertainment industry and not a life essential even though it may feel like it.

That maybe true, but it is still not enough to run the club, who do you want to pay?

They are a fan group so of course they do, I don’t think a single fan could justify prices going much higher

We contribute more than most other fans in the league despite being in the poorest area of the country, pushing loyal fans away shouldn’t be an option

I don't think fans should be enabling the behaviour by paying massive prices so the club can still live beyond its means. If we can't afford the best players then we stop buying them and paying the wages. I'm fine with that.

I'm not enabling the behaviour by paying excessive prices and being ripped off. That's why I have no problem using an IPTV service or buying knock off kits from China. If they are going to fleece me on ticket prices I'll make the money back elsewhere.

I'm fine with reducing spending too, as long as people don't moan about being in league one or two, when things level out.

I'll leave the running of the club to the chairman etc. Like anything in life, there becomes a point where you can't charge any more before it becomes ridiculous. We're already at that stage with our walk up prices. The club are in a very good place at the minute. Some excellent recruitment of late. Forss, Archer, Lenihan etc. Sadly that hasn't always been the case and that's one of the reasons our finances aren't in a good place. Assombalonga 15million and a huge 40k a week for example. It's not fair to expect the fans to pick up the pieces for these mistakes.

I don’t think that’s a valid argument. We often spent amongst the most in the league. But we don’t need to. The problem is the money is often spent badly. Plenty of other clubs compete on a more limited budget.

Gibson should have been asking for a number of years why it’s wasted. And that often comes down to him with who he employs in roles at the club.

If the club wasn’t so wasteful with its funds then you wouldn’t need to have him dipping into his pockets all the time. Or a justification for such high ticket prices.
