RIP George Segal

Aw how sad. Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf. Used his own Jewish surname when that could have held him back at that time in Hollywood - respect.

RIP sir.

I remember when I was at Uni in the 70s we went to see a film called Rollercoaster. Segal played an investigator in which a young psycho was blowing up rollercoaster tracks as the cars were running.

I remember it vividly because it was one of the few films that was shown in “Sensoround” where the film track base was turned up to max to give you the impression you were in the coaster. Hence there are scenes from the front seat of the rollercoasters.

He would have been 50 in that film. Good innings.

Sparks were in that film 😊

They were. I understand Kiss were originally offered the opportunity to appear and do two songs but turned it down. Sparks then took over. Performed Big Boy and Fill Her Up.
I remember seeing it at the ABC. It's long lasting effect was to make me a Sparks fan to this very day.
As regards George Segal, I also remember seeing, and really enjoying, "Fun With d*ck and Jane". Also at The ABC.

Not his finest movie, but I always really loved The Duchess And The Dirtwater Fox with him and Goldie Hawn.

RIP - decent actor and had the comedic slant as mentioned, apart from the aforementioned I did like him in war movies - he played in both 'The Longest Day' and 'Bridge at Remagen'
