Rittenhouse walks!

I hope there are protests over him walking free.

Might be useful for the peaceful protesters to know they can turn up armed with a semi-automatic rifle… you know, just for self defence in case there’s any skateboards

I don’t think anyone is surprised but for me at least the Mayor of Kenosha is to blame for all of this mess— if he’d kept the cops on the streets perhaps this may have never happened. The jury took nearly 5 days of deliberation which means this wasn’t a matter taken lightly. Biden also shouldn’t have butt his nose into the court case.

Unbelievable. The USA justice system is an absolute clip, and the reaction to this could be toxic given how politicized the whole event has been, obviously. It likely is going to be, with the wrong people getting blamed as usual as Rittenhouse is lauded as some kind of hero by the far-right or 'alt' right. There are even Senators within the GOP who have mused over the idea of offering him work, such as that unbearable little doyle that is Matt Gaetz. That is how badly wrong things are in the world right now.

The thing that strikes me about this case is that a group of men are allowed to unofficially patrol the streets by the police, with high powered firearms, in the midst of a large scale protest.

It's not surprising that something tragic happened as a result.

I have to say though that I'm not entirely surprised by the verdiect, given the circumstances - I certainly don't think it was a cut-and-dried case, given what I've read about the case at least.

I think your first paragraph covers it. It's beyond comprehension.
It certainly wasn't a clear cut case, but only because of the astonishing laws around guns. As other have said though if he was black he'd have been shot dead at the time, or found guilty

Frightening, wonder if he'd have been acquitted if he was black......
Would it have been the same trial if one or all of the dead guys was black? I think he’d probably be going to jail.
He was clearly in danger and jump kick man had already tried to take his head off.
It’s the gun laws that are crazy

Absolutely agree.

Correct decision

He acted in self defence, the videos show it clearly.

Now, Why they are have justice system and country has gun laws where you can be run around with guns and shoot someone in self defence so easily is a something most of us in the UK find complete bizarre.

But by the letter of the law where he is, he should walk free. The videos showed everything you need to know.

I’m certainly not a fan of gun laws in USA or how their justice system really works, But you have to judge the case by the standards of where it was and he did act in self defence as we seen in the videos, so it was the correct verdict
