Robbed again ?

Was watching the game in the pub.

Lad next to me was convinced the goal hadn’t been given as the iFollow score graphic hadn’t updated - this is despite the fact he saw us kick off again.

Took me about four attempts of asking him why would we have kicked off again if the goal hadn’t been given before he acknowledge it was 1-0.

Just on my way home now. We actually played ok first half without really creating a lot. Carrick perhaps should have started Fry as Paddy couldn’t handle, Dike. First not an obvious offside. If we score first we win comfortably, but the goal lifted them.

Second half West Brom tightened up and we never really looked like scoring, appart from the save from Jones at the end. Can’t win ‘em all, but obviously the way to beat us is to run at our centre halves, similar to Sunderland in some ways.

Even still we have to defend better, first goal against good defensive teams is always important they get it then a quick 2nd kills the game.

We will be fine

Just watched 1st goal on Sky Sports app.

Onside by at least yard and a half.

Although attacker was beyond McNair when ball was played Lenihan was playing him on in middle. Then after ball is played Lenihan steps up too late.

Like I mentioned, limited camera angle on the iFollow stream I saw, and not seen any replays. Never mind. Although I think the iFollow score updaters were on our side, took a few minutes to accredit the goal to them, showed 0-0 for a while 😂

Agree - if you freeze frame on the Sky highlights it isn't even close to being offside..

To be fair, I think many people will have been swayed by Maddo saying it was offside over and over for 90 minutes.

I'm more bothered by Dike assaulting McNair and the referee not even deeming it a foul.

What was disappointing was Giles, who is also playing him onside, turning his attention to the assistant whilst the game is going on. Doesn’t get round Dike and he scores. So bad 😩

Giles also terribly positioned for the second. He really does struggle defensively.

At times like this, I always like to think of Wilko’s goal against Bristol Rovers in 1991/92. He literally punched it into the net. We won 2-1. Without that goal, there’s no promotion, no last day at Wolves, Lennie’s Lions would’ve been in the playoffs having already played 60-odd games - almost all of them on thick mud - and the club’s history could well have been very different.

Is this thread about the penalty we got in the Burnley game or Forss’ dive at Bloomfield Road? Or any of Jones’ and McNair’s dives that have been rewarded with free kicks and penalties.

Why would it be about the penalty we got in the Burnley game?

He tried to handball it and missed, it looked like he hadn't on first viewing.

No Boro player cheated for that.

Plenty of people immediately pointed out that we shouldn't have had the penalty against Blackpool, with plenty saying Forss should have been booked for diving.

There were discussions about both penalties being wrongly given, so I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make.
Fans are obviously going to be more angry when it's against them, than for them.

The point is obvious. We get our fair share of dodgy, questionable, soft decisions. Just like every other side in the league does. They don’t always get threads and hoofs and requests for ‘stickie’ though. I mean, McNair is one of the biggest divers in the division IMO. I know he does get stick from some of us for this but it’s a case of glass houses for me.

At time likes this, I always think of the biggest game of our existence...Bolo's double touch penalty.

Who knows what would've happened if he didn't make it 2-0.

Would we still be trophy virgins and never have had those amazing European campaigns?

Genuinely fine with the penalty decision. Steffen shouldn’t be throwing himself at that.

Obviously he did dive but I can certainly see why and it would be a difficult one for the ref to see.
