Robbed again ?

At time likes this, I always think of the biggest game of our existence...Bolo's double touch penalty.

Who knows what would've happened if he didn't make it 2-0.

Would we still be trophy virgins and never have had those amazing European campaigns?
I might be wrong but i'm pretty sure an explaination was given after the game that the penalty was allowed due to the double touch being accidental which was within the rules back then.

I am staggered really at the number of people on this thread and others who have said they have no problem with the penalty decision.
Whether some of our players have dived this season or not is absolutely irrelevant, that was not a penalty in a million years and should not have been given. That it won any match is very sad.
The referee was pathetic all night.

I hope we have the opportunity to play them at Wembley, both at full strength. I believe we would humiliate them in every way.

Can we make this a stickie

Shocking AGAIN
The thing that gets me is that this robbery is pointless. I understand that the Blades can mathematically be caught but there's almost no chance of them dropping the massive amount of points required. Being 3rd or 4th affects almost nothing.
All Luton have done is cheat to win b***r all and put themselves in the spotlight for it.

In terms of robberies, this one is akin to some muppet breaking into a factory and getting caught with a full mugshot on CCTV just to steal a loo roll from the staff bogs.

Do we ???

When was the last offside goal we had given or non penalty or other goal from an incorrect decision.

They don’t even themselves out either the biggest myth in football
Last ‘offside’ goal no idea, last ‘dodgy’ penalty was about two weeks ago against Burnley.

Also I’m not saying I’m fine with last night’s penalty. It was a dive, plain and simple. I would hope the FA punish Morris in the same way the punished the Coventry player, with a two-match ban for simulation.

What I am saying is that we have players who dive too. Forss did pretty much the same as Morris by diving over the ‘keeper at Blackpool. We were given a penalty. It happens. It’s sh*t, but players do it and all teams are susceptible to it. And to those who think VAR will put a stop to it, it won’t. Ask the Brighton manager about that.

The point is obvious. We get our fair share of dodgy, questionable, soft decisions. Just like every other side in the league does. They don’t always get threads and hoofs and requests for ‘stickie’ though. I mean, McNair is one of the biggest divers in the division IMO. I know he does get stick from some of us for this but it’s a case of glass houses for me.
Reading should have had a penalty at 1-0 to get back into the game and Stoke should have had a penalty against us as well but you won't see threads about those.

I find it a little embarrassing to be honest, like I don't mind the discussion around the incidents because last night was a joke but to constantly say "robbed again" like it's only us is ridiculous.

Forgot about that Stoke one actually.

The biggest gripe I have with stuff like this, is when pundits say, 'it evens itself out during the season'. I think the female pundit (I forget her name) mentioned it last night.

That's a complete load of old rubbish.

Most teams during the season get decisions good and bad go for/against them.

But more crucially, is the timing of these decisions.

If the referee makes that decision in August/September, then teams have plenty of time to make that bad decision up.
However, put that poor decision in the PO's, then it could be a £200m decision go against you and you have no chance to turn it around.

I use the PO final last season as an example. That refereeing performance was an absolute disgrace. It was so bad, that it could be perceived as match fixing. How Huddersfield didn't get a penalty and how Forest kept getting away with murder was completely ridiculous. Yes Huddersfield may have had slices of luck during the season, but that doesn't mean it was evened out over the season.

The same blinkered posters, time and time again with the victim attitude then no comment when it goes our way.

At times like this I often wonder whether some of our fans understand football at all and what constitutes a foul in the first place. Whataboutery is irrelevant, players that dive do not award penalties, players that go down in a heap because of the slightest of touches on their backs do not give free kicks, referees make those decisions alone. The referees have the power to book players for ungentlemanly conduct, they have the power to book for simulation (it should be called cheating). I accept some things are not clear cut, I accept cheating pays at times.

I would consider certain changes in the game at lower league levels, Championship downwards that avoids VAR costs, but uses normal in game cameras and gives a 4th official some responsibility other than using a subs board)

1. Firstly if a player is booked or sent off by the ref, or refs fails to see dangerous tackles (Fry v blackburn) let the 4th official review incidents during the game and give them the power to rescind or award cards based on the camera angles available to him. Any doubts on field ref decision stands.
2. If a player is clearly seen to be guilty of simulation to gain a penalty (cheating) then make that a straight red card, not a yellow (they’ll soon stop it). (4th official has power to review in game)
3. Allow teams power to appeal blatant injustices after game i.e. 4th official also ballsed up and made a bad decision (adds accountability to 4th official decision making).

I am not suggesting goals be chalked off for mistakes as by the time it is checked it may take too long, that needs more careful thought, but if those that cheat pay at least some price during the game it might help. It would need thinking through more than i have, but make better use of 4th officials.

It is a much lower standard than VAR but given cameras at all EFL grounds, it should be simple to administer and enable some scrutiny offering help to on field refs one would hope.

I think you raise some excellent points.
