Roger Daltrey

why the fu.ck should musicians get special treatment? Ive lost work in Europe and I was totally against Brexit but I am not a special case.
The Who were a fantastic band. For a few of my student years I listened to Live at Leeds everyday of my life.

But Roger Daltrey is a daft old coont - I remember the Brexit comments he made on the pitch at Wembley.
And after reading Pete Townshends autobiography, I can say that he is a total, self-obsessed bell.end, too.

AND, most importantly, they should have packed in 40 years ago along with the Stones. Like the Beatles - leave when still at the top

Right after Live at Leeds then? Convenient....

This is one of huge numbers of practical examples of how we benefit from being part of the EU. Very few were presented by the Remain arguments, probably because detail would go over most people's heads.

There were threads on the impact it could have on bands on fmttm. As someone who loves his live music, is proud and supportive of smaller bands and always gutted when some real quality ones find they have to fold because they just can't make a living, the impact of Brexit was a major worry. As with most other aspects of Brexit, I took the time to listen to trade, services and music industry experts opinion regarding the potential disaster and the evidence they presented. I tried to warn a number of my Brexit supporting friends who equally love their live music, but they simply shut their ears and minds to any attempt at reason and logic. And here we are. It's frustrating and tragic.
RD pointed out in the interview that bands toured before the EU, and IIRC non-European bands toured Europe, so does he not have a point?
The MU and their foreign counterparts were the main obstacle to free movement.

I like that he still does not have a smartphone.

I think this NME blog from March 2019, when we still had time to reverse the madness, answers yours and Mr Daltry's question.

Good article and great post Lefty.

It depresses me - it will be incredibly difficult/impossible for many bands across the scale to tour Europe (its not just about filling in forms, there are huge costs involved) so they will be deprived of income from touring and subsequent merchandise sales which man smaller bands now rely heavily on. Similarly many bands from Europe will no longer manage to come to the UK.

Along with the closure of any smaller live venues it's just another nail in in the coffin of the live music industry.

I have no sympathy for ***** like Daltrey etc crying because having got what they wanted they suddenly realise it isn't what they thought it was.
spot on, it's going to particularly hit the smaller bands, the cost of taking equipment into europe now will prohibit touring

nobody is claiming they are a 'special case', simply that they are an industry (and it's the whole industry of putting on gigs not just millionaire musicians) that are badly hit.

Note also that the music industry is a huge tax contributor
