Rooney Quits

I simply don't understand. I mean the only thing sending Derby into trouble was Gibson.

He walked away in Feb. I'm guessing the 60mil in dept and no ground was the actual issue. Funny that 😂

I'm guessing he's been offered a new job. What clubs have a vacancy?

Intrigued to see what club he joins next

I think he did a very good job at Derby in difficult circumstances. Had they not had the points deduction, I think he would have had them competing at the other end of the table.

He proved a lot of doubters wrong, including myself when he took that job. Has shown he is a good coach and no doubt his career will take off, though Derby as a club seems to be heading in the opposite direction :eek:

Can we just nail this did a good job nonsense. Year 1 stayed up on goal difference year 2 took them down( yeah I get the points deductions) but even so what kind of resume is that?

I think he has held his own, fair play to the bloke great footballer and in difficult circumstances tried to keep Derby in the league with points deductions. Hope he is successful in his next managerial job. Good Luck Rooney.

He is quality!

I remember him being mentioned around the time we took on Woodgate. I’m guessing he was looked at as a first team coach or assistant. Would have been far better than Robbie Keane imo
There`s some saying which goes like "you cant polish a .......Derby"!
That club needs more than a magic wand or a miracle.
The EFL are complicit in this mess - their indecision, prevarication and lack of moral fibre has helped perpetuate this rotten shambles.
The EFL have made an "exception" for Derby.
Do any of us know why yet?

I don't remember Wayne Rooney supporting the false accusations against Boro.
He seemed to focus on getting the best out of the players he had.
His team earned enough points on the pitch to escape relegation comfortably.
How did he do it?
He had Ravel Morrison as a first team regular.
That's how bad a selection of players he had to work with.
It's the cheating club that cost Derby not the team or the manager.
Candidate for manager of the season in my opinion.

Agreed.
Cant blame any of the players jumping off that ship wreck or Rooney for saying "sod it".

Not only did he not support the falsehoods aimed at Boro but while everyone Derby related was he actually called out MM at one stage in a few v interview and put the blame squarely on him. I think he (and Rosenior) did a very decent job and handled things very well. I expect he will get a job elsewhere soon enough and I expect he’ll take Rosenior with him to be assistant again wherever that is.

Apperently he turned down Blackpool due to restricted transfer funds..... It will be worse at Derby.

I think he turned down Blackpool because he knew Rooney was leaving. It would make sense, this decision won’t have come out of the blue.

Got a feeling Rosenior will take over. He was tipped to take over at Boro and then to be involved in the coaching set up prior to Woodgate.
