Sammy Ameobi?

I genuinely keep forgetting that we signed him. What's the crack?

He is never mentioned during the injury updates and we've heard absolutely nothing from him. I've not seen one interview since the day he signed. You'd think he would speak about being 'frustrated' or 'can't wait to get going' etc.

Absolutely nothing. Just seems a bit strange that nobody is talking about him. I'm wondering if he's out for the season😕?

I'm getting a 'Who is Keyser Söze?' vibe. I'm starting to think Ameobi doesn't exist, he's just been invented for a mysterious purpose, to serve as a distraction and throw people off the trail of the real injury list.

6 weeks ago Warnock said he had “a lot of fluid” still coming out of the knee and can’t train which does sound ominous. He then said with Isiah Jones ”you lose some you win some” which suggests to me he has given up on Ameobi being back for some time.

He signed right at the beginning of July, it's 3 1/2 months since he last trained. Yet we haven't even been told what the injury is, other than it's knee related. I'd be astounded to see him this season, clearly a very very serious injury

You would think they would interview him or do something to show he’s actually engaged with the club, I haven’t even seen him at the games or anything. I am always suspicious to things like this, I think it’s not a injury and something else.

That is what seems weird to me too. You would think he'd have been wheeled out somewhere, or in a rehab update with Browne or something? Unless I've just missed it?

Did he have an unveiling interview?

You would think if it was something sinister we would have terminated his contract as we're not exactly flush with wage budget and I assume he's fully registered and taking a place up in the squad?

I don’t. For a start why would Warnock risk lying about an imaginary injury in a press conference if he knew his back room and Ameobis friends and family were aware of “another reason”. It would get out. No in my mind he must have a really bad injury.

I think there's been plenty occasions in professional football where someone has been 'injured' for other reasons, wasn't Braithwaite 'ill' before being transferred out?

I'm not saying it is the case but there seems to have been plenty of injured/not injured stories over the years and equally players disappearing and no official reason being released by the club, NML for example.

It probably is just an injury, it just seems bizarre we have seen so little of him.

Chances are he's at home somewhere close to Nottingham and being treated by a physio down there (possibly even at Forest), assuming he had a house down there prior to his move.

I agree it is bizarre that he hasn’t even been seen hobbling around on crutches or indeed that the Club have appeared very reluctant to even talk about him. Perhaps Rob could ask Nw when he next has a 1-1 with him and enquire of his health…… and whereabouts.

You would think over three months or so he would be up for rehab stuff with us at some point, and he might have taken in a game?

Or he could have linked up with the squad and been in the stand for Forest away?

If he can't run there's little point in having m being at the club. He may have been at the Forest game and met with the squad.

The injury happened almost straight away so chances are he's not had chance to relocate, as simple as that. There are physios across the country with the ability to treat injuries.

But surely he'd have to come up for assessments and other team stuff? He's potentially a couple of million quid asset of the club, I can't see them saying 'you stop at home for four months and do some Peloton time and use a local physio and come back when you're fit'.

It's the not hearing anything that I find strange. I mean nobody is even asking the question. Warnock never mentions him.

You'd usually see a photo of him in rehab or laughing with other Boro players. I guess he could still be down in Nottingham. Then again it also think it's an ideal time to move.

I just wonder if we are maybe in some kind of 'despute' behind the scenes about maybe buying him with an injury? That's only me and a bit of a conspiracy theory😂

They pretty quickly said Fisher was out for the season. So I understand no more updates on him.

We could be pursuing some sort of insurance thing or contractual termination I suppose.

With Jones, Hernandez, Browne (soon hopefully) Tav, Watmore, Olysana and maybe Sivi all able to play there the club maybe thinking they don't need him now.

I’m with you. Surely there is more to this than meets the eye. Would like someone to ask about Ameobi in the next press conference. Try and get a more detailed answer from the manager

I want to see a nurse drawing fluid out of his knee with a syringe, and Leo keeping an eye on proceedings with a measuring jug and a magnifying glass.

Deerstalker hat optional but preferred.
