Mentally weak and deserved to go out - it never entered my mind that Switzerland wouldn't beat them

I'd have to say that Belgium are far and wide the worst participators at this world cup, closely followed by Denmark. Qatar, meanwhile had zero expectations so for them to go out the way they did was acceptable.

Agree they were a good watch but ultimately very naïve defensively which they will need to learn from when they host the next tournament.
 
Wales were comfortably the worst team in the tournament for me, even Qatar were better and they were absolutely dreadful.

1 goal, and it was a penalty.

Offered nothing.

Canada got the least points, but they played really well against Belgium and should have won.

Wales played well against nobody and never looked like scoring.
 
Wales were absolutely shocking. Really glad they've gone out so the BBC/ITV can stop feeling obliged to give them so much coverage/credit.
 
Agree Wales and Qatar were the worst in terms of watching them. I’d say Wales were slightly worse as they had better players and could have had a go, they offered nothing in 3 games.

Denmark and Belgium were the worst of the “better” teams. Both set up badly and badly managed.

I did a predictor pre tournament and had Switzerland qualifying above Serbia. Serbia have some good players, but I’m sure the last World Cup they played Switzerland and completely bottled it.

Except for the commentary. "What a fantastic header. He was nearly beyond the near post and headed it into the far corner" TV promptly cuts to a behind the goal shot of him heading the ball from bang in the middle of the goal.

I don't understand why people underrate the Swiss. Time and again they prove themselves hard to beat and really savvy in tournament football. They have such a good record for qualifying in the first place and then they are never there to make up the numbers, they know how to get out of the groups. They will be no push overs for anyone.

Canada were way better than Wales I agree for what they offered. Serbia too.

But I'm not having the Wales worse than Qatar train of thought I'm afraid; aside from their getting a point more, Wales did occasionally look half-decent defensively whereas Qatar were just dog$hit at everything.

So that makes the Taffs the second worst side in the tournament for me, which is hardly a compliment. Just that the Qataris were even worse and in matches between the two of them Wales would likely grind out a win more often than they would.

Agree at times Wales looked okay and Qatar were just awful throughout, but I don’t think Qatar could have done any better. Their a poor team with poor players, whereas Wales could have been better. They never really had a go in any of the games, even the England game which was a must win, they just sat back and got picked off offering nothing. They weren’t snapping into tackles and didn’t seem up for it.
 
Some teams have to lose and go out in the first round, Serbia haven't been that bad. They've played their part in 2 entertaining games and have been worth their place.
