Started watching this last night based upon a french Gem dealer in Thailand drugging young tourists - very sinister, gripping viewing two episodes in.

It's very good, end of episode 3 is probably the most tense moment.
My only criticism is that the portraying of Charles Sobhraj (Alain) I wasn't sure about. He certainly came across as sinister and looked the part but not charming in a way that would draw in his victims like the real killer did (who was by all accounts quite witty and engaging).

I'd agree with this, he came across a sleazy and chilling from the outset, certainly nothing to inspire the blind loyalty he received.

Ajay was also really annoying, especially when you consider what he did for Alain, who as I say was utterly devoid of any charm,

Really liked the photos of the real people at the end, and an update of what they're up to now.

Tahar Rahim plays the main part and stars in The Looming Tower (Amazon Prime), which is the best drama of 2020 for me - cany recommend it highly enough.

Its based on the lack of cooperation between FBI and CIA, running up to 9/11.
