Shame on you all re NW, really sad to see - Do you really think it's HIS squad?

Well?
Do you think Neil wanted to sell Morsy & have no cover in the squad?
Absolutely NOT his fault, the current situation....
The guy is a LEGEND & football lover to boot, the people turning on him & trying to bring a sad end to a legendary career oughtta hang their heads in shame!
It's obvious he loves it here & none of this is nice at all!
Fans pay the money & are entitled to their say, many didn't want him here in the 1st place, but I feel for him one club he always wanted to manage & when he got the chance his aim after saving us for certain relegation was to mount a serious promotion push, unfortunately it hasn't happened

Lumley
Daniels
Bamba
Peltier
Ameobi
Olusanya
Hernandez
Crooks

All paid for by getting Britt and Fletch off the books!

Not money well spent so far but hopefully new gaffer can get more out of them. Don’t think Ameobi will play for us like

If its not his squad, what's he still doing here.
I hope he can keep us up this season - then its all change again.
Intersting point

If I was him I would say Middlesbrough there is potential there to do better and a good challenge, a footballing area with passionate fans. The Club has one sole owner who is passionate too and fairly hands on, who is not going to change and who has put his own money into the club. I would say I have to do what the owner wants to a large degree and accept I am not going to get my way 50% of the time. Its called compromise. I earlier called it teamwork.

And of course Football managment in the higher divisions is very well paid!

You could be right or wrong but please give a bit longer than 5 - 10 weeks with those signings

I will. I like Crooks. Lumley hit and miss so far but he has until January to get his form together. Hernandez I like shame he’s out. Bamba is a back up centre back really but injuries mean he’s playing currently. Peltier is to old and not good enough. The new foreign lads need time and games before we judge. Hopefully new manager gets best out of them

Lumley so/so but a bit better option than Bettinelli (thats alot of bs)
Peltier my guess bought on the cheap as squad player (Dijksteel/Fry/Hall probably first choice or Samba)
Samba - performed quite well.
Olusanya bought for Under 23s but we have no players left!
Crooks - very good to good signing - 2 goals
Hernandez - looks good on 2 showings - 1 goal
Ameobi - Injured for 3 months so far fluid on his knee should medical staff have spotted this?

This time last season Assombalonga and Fletcher had done very little - 1 goal and no assists in the league?

My take on it is Warnock is pragmatic enough to accept some of the signings we're not going to be his and some will be at the start of the season. However I think there's been a fall out over morsey and spence I think Warnock was happy to let them leave on the understanding that replacements would be signed but for whatever reason they never got over the line. He mentioned publicly on numerous occasions hes only got Johnny in there and he's light in the fullback area there's definitely an attitude of what do you expect me to do I told you so I've been let down.
Until there's a chance to get a defensive midfielder and cover at fullback in the next window we will still have the same issues and frailties regardless of a change in manager.

So we have better players but are getting worse results, that would seem to point out a problem with either formation, motivation, organisation or cohesion I would suggest that Warnock is responsible for all of those facets of performance and ultimately must take ownership of our current situation, rather than hide behind excuses, scapegoat his players, undermine his DOF and continue to blame officials, leaders stand up to be counted not to point fingers at others.

GE - Longshot but there are some free agents and I believe we have 2 slots available on what we are allowed to sign. With so many injuries it could make sense.

Have to do what the owner wants? You mean, be competitive? Where do I sign?

50% of the time is nonsense, IMO. Unless you think Gibson picks half the team, sets the shape, system, takes the training sessions. Unless you think he makes 50% of the signings. Come on, he quite clearly doesn’t. Are we going to give him half of the credit of keeping us up? Surely not.

Only Paddy Kenny, Michael Brown, Clint Hill and Patrick Suffo to go and the band is back together.

He has asked for, and received, backing in the transfer market to bring in numerous players. His recruitment has been utterly *****, but the players he’s thrown under the bus are those he didn’t sign despite his signings being utterly, utterly, utterly dire - on a par with Strachan‘s Scottish dirge.

Anyone with more than half a brain cell can see this toxic narcissist currently managing our club is seriously damaging and needs to be removed before it becomes irreparable.

we have some individuals who have the potential to be better players but the squad is far more unbalanced than last season with marvin johnson, coulson, spence and morsey gone i dont think its better than last year at all. i cant believe Warnock with the years of experience would have let those go without the promise of getting like for like positional replacements in. It wouldn't be the first time the club have gone back on their promises.

The point on a defensive midfielder would hold water had we been on a good run with Morsy in the team, the truth is we weren’t and to further qualify why Warnock is culpable for our current predicament it’s obvious that he’s been able to bring at least some of his ‘own’ players in, so why hasn’t he looked at defensive midfielders as an area to reinforce knowing an injury to Morsy, before his sale, would have left us without cover in that position.

It feels like there’s a delusion at large that Warnock can improve this team given time and that things will turn around, whereas the evidence of his 40 year plus career is initial impact that builds momentum over an 18 month period and then tails off, I’m in no way knocking what he has done in his career and he did a fantastic job in his initial period at the club, but sadly we have not made progress in the last 9 months and results like Sheffield United are the exception rather than the rule, every Boro fan wants Warnock to succeed but there comes appoint when faith becomes misplaced and reality bites, we’ve gone backwards in the last 12 months and the longer this continues the longer we will continue to slide.

It almost seems like self sabotage by Warnock, throwing players under the bus publicly is not something I would expect from a manager of his experience, his unwillingness to take any blame or offer any constructive solution, his reluctance to work with the DOF seems to me that Warnock is more interested in proving points than working in the best long term interests of the Club and that division allied to a sustained period of mediocre form means that I can’t see any other solution than to make changes that bring unity.
Superb post as usual, AM.

Hi Viv

The chairman runs the club at the highest level - he is not hands off, his previous actions prove this. It may not pick the team but he contributes to the formulation of the squad from which the team is selected. In some ways he is like some continental owners that at times buy players for the "head coach" to use.

You have followed the club a long time and remember Alves who was picked for Southgate and eventually decent players had to be sold to pay for him. Alves a youngish South American attacking player, that the club paid a lot for and was not good enough for the Premier League. Soon after the Alves signing Southgate was seen very upset one day, the same day it was announced Lucas Neill had been sold for financial reasons. In recent years Southgate has said he did not buy Alves.

SG owns the club 100% and overall has been good for the club, but he has his style and takes decisons based on finance as much as football at times and wants to be heavily involved. Possibly he has been let down by managers in the past. The approx 50% figure referred to transfer dealings, not day to day managment.

Hi Am

Firstly do you agree we have stronger squad than last season?

Across the whole squad the players overall are about the same standard in my opinion (mid tabish), but the wage bill has been significantly reduced. Some of the new players will take a while to bed in. There are also a lot of new players. We have lost some useful players (to me), particularly Saville, Morsy, Johnson, Kebano, Bolasie and Spence.

Crooks and Lumley are the only 2 players that have been available every full league game and Crooks was nearly banned. It is an excuse but more importantly its a fact in a world full of opinions. Compared with last season we have had more injuries. Eight players out at present to injury? To to me has a significant impact on stability affecting organisation and formation.

Its a matter of opinion on if Warnock is taking responsibility and ownership etc - True he is quite open about the frustrations of the job. Like the fans he wants to best results for the team and does not have to worry about the longer financial state of the club. However he has 32 years experience of what works and what does not work with regards dealing with the media and football management type issues. He could clam up more or speak and say nothing, send in others to face the media or just vanish but I woud say a lot of fans want to know what he is thinking. He praises his players more than he criticises them, maybe he could drop any criticism some managers never criticise like say Smac or Woodgate and then are criticised on here. Possibly he uses excuses a ,bit too much, but we don't know what happens behind closed doors, we don't know agendas neither or intended audiences for some of his comments. He does like to rattle cages a bit that can be a negative or positive. I know what Brian Clough would have said on that.

To be honest if we changed manager now I would be concerned about the club getting relegated. I certainly wouldn't twist with the club outside the bottom three. If we follow the recent pattern the next man will be some clown like monk trying to play attractive football but struggling to play anything at all.

Which is basically what i said!
