Shoplifters

At the checkout in B&M Durham when the lady looks up and shouts at someone, ‘where are you going with that?’ Turns out it was a shoplifter just walking out with an air fryer and that’s the 10th he’s had in a week from there. One of the staff ran after him but couldn’t do anything as they’ve been told not to by the police who aren’t interested either. They have said it’s not worth them bothering. The staff said I wasn’t allowed to challenge him either. Absolutely shocking.

Same thing in a local shop
A known man walks in and fills his bag with Joints of meat and walks out unchallenged even though he is on CCTV .
Staff told to let him just walk out .

In the old days he would get a good hiding and a month in jail .

The bloke is clearly nicking them and then selling them cheap to the coppers. It's a disgrace.

Same thing happened at my local Co-op a bloke walks out armed with a pizza and a bottle of coke straight past the security saying ‘I don’t pay’ over and over everyone just looked on. So brazen. Staff just shrugged.

I worked in a supermarket for years....we could get done 3/4 times a day some days. We used to grab the shoplifters or give chase but were told about 10 years ago it had to stop (still happened sometimes though). It's to do with personal safety....you don't know what anyone has on them....one of our managers was stabbed in the hand with a screwdriver once

The staff were pretty adamant they would stop me if I went after him. I’m hindsight I could end up losing my job or being prosecuted if I had chased after him. It’s a ridiculous and sad state this country is in. The hands of good people are tied so this type run amok.

Wasnt normal procedure a shoplifter would be detained by shop security until police arrived then theyd take care of it? Ive stopped a couple in the past few years, just happened to he stood in the right/wrong place - it was b&q both times weirdly. Was a recent case in news of an m&s security guard who pursued and killed a shoplifter. If theyre known just dont let them in but once they have their haul is it worth getting stabbed for.

If both hands are employed carrying stolen loot then sweep their legs from behind and watch them fall heavily on their ****/head…….pour a little liquid and claim they slipped, cctv wasn’t functioning obvs.

It is mad that people can just brazenly do this knowing nowt will happen. In seriousness it’s not worth risking being stabbed or whatever but it shouldn’t have got to this stage in society.

I was a loss prevention manager in town in another life… 20 odd year ago now.

We used to catch them all the time and we got most…. Lots were regulars and the other loss prevention lads in the town used to shout up on the radio letting you know where they were

Most were ok and just feeding drug habits. They would just give up as soon as you got to them. We usually had a sandwich waiting for them back in the office

Only had two bad ones in 4 years… one pulled a knife on me, wasn’t a regular and turned out to be a prisoner on day release shopping for Christmas!

The other one was a regular. He decided to try and bite me but got a radio in the mush for his troubles

The silly sod even threatened my family as he was being carted off in the police van. Needless to say the next time he came out to lift he got given a good going over by a few of the other lads in one of the back offices with no cctv

Our policy was if you walked out the first set of doors you were getting picked up.

Would never get away with half the stuff we got up to when taking them out

If you have nothing, you have nothing to risk

Easy to point the finger cosied up in front of the tv, lights on, hot water on tap, food in the fridge and freezer.

We all strive to make ends meet but some people can`t even make that

Desperation comes easy to some people and unless you`ve lived it, then we have no idea of the things we`ll do to survive.

Stealing an Air Fryer may keep someone from going hungry for a night, the cycle may start again tomorrow.

Look for the real criminals in todays society.

You are Sean Dyche and I claim my £5 voucher.

Was in my local post office today.
The guy in front telling the woman behind the counter his recorded letter was to pay a fine for doing 71 in a 70 on the a64 he said.
So cheer up the law is getting the baddies.

Know a lad who worked at Tesco in Redcar as security. He gave chase to some lad pinching booze(if I remember rightly) and got badly beat up and was off work quite a while. He got no compensation from Tesco as they said he had gone offsite. If you know Tesco Redcar that's as little as 15/20 yards in one direction.
