Should all NHS workers be given a thank you lump sum

Say 3-5k as a thank you from the nation.

by NHS I mean not just the Drs and Nurses but cleaners porters ambulance drivers etc.

It's a nice idea, but what about the scientists, care workers, police, teachers, the army medical teams, volunteers, government employees, dentists, key workers etc all working whilst still at risk.

That’s a separate issue this is about the NHS and we have been told the NHS is one team through out the pandemic so it would be nice to see it rewarded as such.

Do you know how much a junior doctor gets paid? The average for a first year junior doctor is 25,000 a year, thats after 5 years of medical training and for an average of 72 hours a week. That is about £6.50 an hour, yup doctors are paid enough.
It doesn't stay low though.
Our local GPs average £70k.

I said at the start of the pandemic that it was apparent which jobs are important and essential and which aren't.
Everybody who has kept this country going through the pandemic should have that importance reflected in their salary going forward. I don't wish to demean anyone's chosen profession, but those who keep the "wheels turning" have proven themselves to be invaluable and it's very unfortunate that they tend to be amongst the lowest paid.
Regarding the NHS, everyone deserves a huge amount of thanks and that should be reflected in their pay going forward, particularly after the big lie on that red battle bus that we all know about.

Nice idea, but far too complicated to implement. I'm an essential NHS worker at the front line of T&T, vaccinations and community rapid testing, but have only been in post since Jan, no way could I accept any bonus on the same basis as anyone who's been dealing with this massive parcel of shíte for a year

Quite happy with my "thank you" pin badge as a reward, personally speaking

no,where do you stop, what about care workers in old folks home???are they less deserving,i suppose you could go on forever,as someone says above give them a wage rise as they deserve it

No cash lump sum, just pay them properly and use any spare cash to provide suitable facilities, more staff and decent resources to be able to do their job as they see fit. Cut the red tape and targets, do away with the ridiculous amounts of pen pushing managers and have wards, units, surgery, equipment etc organised and run by accountable senior Dr’s and Nursing staff in the first place. Have hospitals employ all positions internally, do away with private contractors for all aspects, employees would be more accountable, feel a part of a team whether a cleaner, a porter, a nurse or a surgeon

Yes, we need to properly find all our public services from NHS to armed forces. Increase my tax, just make sure they have what they need.

Beyond the ordinary taxpayer, introduce a higher rate for all these celebrities, they can afford it. Just make sure folks that you don’t get caught up in the stampede of premier league footballers, actors, pop stars, activists, influencers and other trendies as they all run to leave the country!

Are you including utility workers too? Those who work in supermarkets? Those teachers who've continued to work in schools with apparent high risk child super spreaders? What about the military? The police? Fire brigade?
