Should all NHS workers be given a thank you lump sum

There is always money for friends of the government and their donors
Just a quick thought on the 12 billion given to Serco for T&T fiasco.

You could take a million pounds outside and burn it every single day for 32 years and still have change. Something I saw online the other day.

Incredible sums have been found for friebds of Senior Tories. Government departments have now been found in court to have failed their legal duty in providing details on these deals.

It stinks to high heaven

Let's fund all of our public services properly, take care of the sick and provide a safety net for those who cannot work.

The idea the countries budgets are like credit cards is nonsense. Its about ideology.

The NHS staff are exempt from the forthcoming public sector pay freeze so they will at least see some pay increases over the next few years. This doesn't apply to social workers, police, the fire service and a whole host of other public sector workers that have worked as normal and put themselves at risk throughout the pandemic.

'Doctors are very poorly paid. Once you factor in the hours, very few earn the minimum wage. '
I'm quite shocked to hear that, I must admit.
Think about the fact that they forego wages too when training. These are people who probably have the ability to apply their skills to other decently paid jobs

That’s a separate issue this is about the NHS and we have been told the NHS is one team through out the pandemic so it would be nice to see it rewarded as such.
I don't think it is. If you want to give them recognition erect long lasting memorials to those who gave their lives in helping others at each hospital as a reminder to everyone.
As it's financial reward you want then, yes take it out of the billions £'s that the trusts manage to spend each year. If there is a will ,there's a way.

My ex has been working on the Covid wards in Bristol. She is a private nurse and not an NHS employee. They normally work on surgical works fitting in where NHS employees are absent. Due to the virus this work has dried up and so are forced onto Covid wards. They earn over £40k per year, far more than NHS nurses. If bonuses/pay rises are given please make sure it goes to the most deserving. There are too many in the NHS milking the system.

The doctor accross from me has a new build 4 bed house and two 20 plate cars (Mini Cooper S and a Range Rover). I think he's doing ok😂

I think the issue is where the bonuses start and stop? It would be some amount of money.

I think it should start with a pay rise rather than a one off 2-3k. The wages and hours Nurses work is awful. I couldn't believe how little Paramedics are on.

I think a few supermarkets gave staff a bonus? I guess it would be a nice gesture but not sure how financially viable it is.

As an NHS employee, I’d much rather have the time back I lost in evenings, weekends, not taking leave last Spring, etc, that I would much have preferred to spend with my young son. That’s not going to happen. Gone forever. But would be worth so much more than money.

Thanks Mr fridge.
