Should boro talk to the bbc tees

Well if he gives instruction, and I am not sure he would dare rock the boat with the players at this juncture, it should be do as you wish, personal choice, freedom to speak (or not) as you wish.
I agree with that, but you could also argue that they are club employees and representing the club too. Its a balancing act and I would back individuals right to choice, but not everyone would agree.

Yeah, appreciate that point. In ordinary life we are seeing employers and their HR departments taking a greater interest in employees social media accounts. They are often vetted in the recruitment as well as the disciplinary processes nowadays. Freedom of speech has to be respected and it is a personal choice on the language we all use as it has consequences (as we all know) and can affect brands.

However, the BBC, in Lineker‘s case, seem to fail to realise that their company has not (imho) had its brand directly affected by Lineker’s tweet and comments, other than upsetting a few politicians who are now seemingly pulling the strings of the Chairman and DG of the BBC. If anything, their own actions will cause far more wider harm and loathing of the corporation and their political masters and denigrate their brand. Trust in the BBC will have been badly hit due to their incompetent and ill judged reaction to a tweet. They haven’t just used a sledgehammer to crack a nut, they have used a nuclear bomb instead.

2/3 years ago when Warnock made a comment about Boris plenty of members where unhappy with him using a press conference to make statement like that now some want the Boro team to make a political statement by not talking to the BBC

I was taking the **** about the knee
Defending the freedom to speak is a human rights issue not a political one.

Warnock's comments were at a Club Press Conference the issue was using that platform to air his political views, totally different to posting them on his own social media pages.

I hope every player where's a vest under their shirt showing solidarity for Lineker and shows it as part of any goal celebration will make MOTD interesting.

Does anyone honestly believe that Lineker would have been suspended if he had posted a pro-government Tweet ?

This is not about politics left or right, it’s about a person giving his views on his own time.

‘Good old Boris’ regardless of Warnock political persuasions I do think he was just trying to make people feel good in those pressers. ‘Good old Boris’ is hardly resounding support.. came across like he’s a useless twonk who is doing his best in a bad situation..

Maybe even.. of all the people you don’t want at the helm in a situation like we’re were in.

He did congratulate those working of the vaccine and those pushing for its roll out. Lots of different things going on and I don’t think a football press conference was the right time to rant about the clear failings of our government.

Sorry I don’t agree its now gone political and by wanting the Boro to not talk to the BBC or make a gesture we are getting involved in politics.

I would love boro to take a stand.. but I don’t think we will. I don’t think Carrick will be phased by any of this and would be very single minded and matter of fact about it.

I think our players would have something to say.. can’t imagine any one of them not being pro Lineker.

‘It’s gone political’ - so fingers on lips, sit on our hands and accept that we cannot have an opinion outside of work?

Suddenly, because Lineker who is employed at phenomenal cost to licence payers is stood down for comparing the murder of millions of Jews to the government attempt to stop a mixture of Albanian masses and economic migrants flooding our country he becomes a Martyr on here. Interesting potential conflict of interest for some when being urged to show solidarity with a multi-millionaire whose wrists have been slapped for being foolish.

Racist idiot. That is not at all what he said.

I think Voltaire said it best “I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”

You may not agree with what he said but he has the absolute right to say it.

He wouldn’t be able to say things that the government didn’t 1930’s Germany/Russia or in fact Russia today.

It may mean little to you but if we start to let freedom of speech slip we start to potentially go down a very unpleasant road.

Are the players outside of work when scoring a goal or talking to the media. If your work allow you to express your views that your choice in your time.

Well surely if it has 'gone political' then we are making a decision politically if we decide to talk to the BBC (that being to support the BBC's position to stifle freedom of speech).

After that i guess it just depends as to what side of the fence you want to put your deck chair? The freedom of speech side or the freedom of speech as long as it agrees with the governing political party side?

No he didnt compare government policy to the holocaust. Thats an outright lie and you know it.

He compared the "language" being used as akin the that used in Nazi Germany in the 1930s.

If you want to rant on with your ill-informed opinion about "...a mixture of Albanian masses and economic migrants flooding our country..." thats up to you. But facts would be useful.

* By the way, your language is just that used by the far right. The only "flooding" has been the racists floating to the surface.

Ahh, you're going with the Braverman approach of working incredibly hard to try and turn Lineker's tweet into something about the holocaust. In no way shape or form did it draw any comparison.
