Steffen was nearer the ball than Stewart when Stewart dived, and the ball was in the box.
I think there's a very good chance that Steffen gets it if a 6ft 2" Scotsman hadn't flung his body at it.

That’s by the end of the sequence. Stewart clearly had him on toast if he wasn’t pulling him. It would more likely to be extended due to frivolous appeal, unless they took pity as it was never a penalty.

It's impossible to do anything about the penalty.. we all know that any potential 'infringement' wasn't in the box. That's not something that can be overturned though.
What we can dispute is whether it was a foul at all.
If Boro feel that the multiple angles available show that Stewart wasn't impeded enough by Fry to tumble to the ground, then I'd appeal.
My view is that contact like that, when two players are running close to each other, with arms across each other, battling for possession, happens hundreds of time each game. The reason Stewart tumbles to the floor is because of where it was on the pitch (trying to win a penalty), not because of any force from Dael.
If they were running for a loose ball in the middle of the park like that, he doesn't fall over and there's no incident.
I'd appeal it.

It’s a blatant red card, he was pulling him which prevented Stewart leaving him for dead and getting to the ball. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was overturned.

That happens anywhere else on the pitch, it's not a foul.
He dived. They both had their arms across each other but enough force from Dael to send him over? No chance.

I've watched it from all the angles and I can't see any contact apart from some a bit of 50-50 as they run after the ball. As others have said no more than you would expect in such a "foot race". I don't see any contact to Stewart's legs/feet that could cause him to pitch forward. He doesn't go backwards as you would expect if he was pulled back. Certainly he is outside the box. I can see it being downgraded to a yellow, which is what it should have been (and a free kick). But I'm not sure that there is enough proof to show that the referee categorically got it wrong.

Definitely worth appealing.
Don't think we'll be successful, but shouldn't be any harm in trying.

Seeing comments like 'clear red' and 'last man'.
It's not a foul. He doesn't pull him over, trip him, push him over, drag him to the ground.. I don't see where the foul is at all.
Isn't it funny that even with multiple angles available people still don't agree.
VAR in the Prem is used far too much, when it can still be so subjective. It should be used for absolute HOWLERS from the ref that somehow they've missed.. not subjective calls.

I don’t think he was pulling him, Stewarts arm is out to stop Fry getting in front of him, Fry moves his hand out of the way.. then no contact legs collapse at the line and Stewart wins the penna. In real time on the tele it looked exactly what happened to.
Might have been a better angle.. but then you have an experienced referee and a linesman to see these things.
