Silverfish

anyone had these in their house? Ideas how to get rid of them? We've tried all the obvious stuff. We are finding dead ones now though and we're not sure if something has started to work.

Atypical apparently they hate citrus smells. Silverfish are repelled by the citrus scent of orange and lemon peel. That said I’d get a specialist in.

Every specialist has just said they won't do anything as the only thing you can do is remove any sources of damp. We have had the house basically renovated over the last 2 years, but we still see them sometimes despite there being no damp (other than unavoidable things like humidity in the bathroom etc). That said, apparently they can live for 3 years, so maybe they're just starting to come to their end of life now.

I only ever saw them in 2 houses, and both had terrible damp. Solve that and they will probably vanish. Crazy going into my in laws kitchen 1st thing in the morning to see dozens of them running around.

Check under bins (especially metal bathroom bins that steam up after a shower). We had an issue in the bathroom and I found the source was under the bin, once removed never seen anymore.

I use this stuff. I was very sceptical at first but followed the instructions and sprayed it all around the bottom of my skirting boards and dark/damp areas. They apparently love to run along the edges of skirting boards at night.

Anyhow over the next 3-4 days kept finding dead ones on my carpet. That or you'd go to pick them up and they are needing 'life support' hardly clinging on😂.

So it definitely works. I don't even know what's in it. Just a clear liquid that has a slight smell when applied but soon goes. Also doesn't stain white gloss.

Oh it’s nowhere near that bad. We see a couple a week, and we don’t have any visibility damp anywhere. The risk with just forgetting about them though is that they can breed again very quickly.

Thanks, have seen this. Slightly concerned about the kids though (one is a baby) dipping their fingers in it etc. Did you diligently do it every night for ages?
