Since....Who would you be most interested in seeing how they'd do in this team/style?

I'm going to go very recently - Sporar.

Always liked him, worst thing that happened to him was Balogun and Connolly coming in.

Bamford by a mile

I don't think Sporar was anywhere near what we needed, altough i accept we've seen other strikers having a big turnaround

Think this is more difficult than it looks. If we're looking for someone to play the #9 position with Chuba playing the deep-laying role then I think Chuba needs someone pacy as a #9 to stretch the defence. Bamford and Sporar both like to drop deep and would possibly be fighting for the same space with Chuba. Ironically someone like Britt who likes to hang out up front and run off the last defender would be ideal and it's possibly no surprise that in the 2.5 games Chuba played alongside him Chuba scored twice. To be honest I suspect that Forss and and Archer will do best out of our strikers since relegation in the #9 role with Akpom behind.

I think Bamford, Sporar and Braithwaite would all have done well playing the #10 role that Chuba has made his own.

Bamford with today's Akpom would be very very good.
Bamford does not drop deep at all, he is very much at his best as the spearhead and it is absolutely where he wants to play.

Yup. He's a quality player so can do both but at his best he's on the shoulder of the last man looking to make those clever runs in behind.

Chuba is playing a very similar position to what Vossen played (but doing it even better) and Bamford played very well with Vossen.

Probably a bit of a cheat answer given he was sold immediately but he was technically our player for a bit following relegation so I'll say Stuani in the Crooks centre forward role would've been brilliant.

I had a look, and you're right. My memory of him under Karanka is that he played quite deep but I'm clearly losing my marbles. So yes, Bamford and Akpom would play well together.
I've put Bamford's and Akpom's heat maps together

For comparison here's Archer's map from last season for PNE.

Does look like he will complement Chuba nicely.

Top work on the mapping.
Hope you are right re Archer, but I'd see him playing instead of McGree personally.

Forgive the potentially VERY stupid question, but is the yellow where he has been, and the red where he's touched it?

McGree is a starter for me. Absolutely outstanding on Saturday. Archer would compete with Crooks for a starting place imo.
