So who if anyone will do MOTD now

..
I said the football family will really round Lineker and so far I'm being proven right. Commentators, pundits, even players boycotting interviews. MotD will be surreal.
I bet the viewing figures go up with people looking in to see how or who is presenting it and how the format runs.

I have to admit, I’ve never watched MOTD since I left the UK, so I really don’t see what’s all the fuss about. It’s never been the same since the likes of Jimmy Hill hosted the show.

The fuss - in your words - is about a Tory appointed head of BBC clamping down on an established BBC presenter criticizing a disgraceful Tory policy

Why is, an established presenter associated so strongly with the BBC workibg on a self employed basis for what 20s years plus. He should be a BBC employee certainly hmrc think so and the grey matter what he can and can't say would also be clearer contractually The BBC and lineker are wrong to have such an employment arrangement same as the likes of Lorraine Kelly on itv its a tax ruse.

Agree totally. Agree with this point a lot. But that's not the issue at all.

I'm not at all a fan of Lineker either. The point is that there's a Tory funding (£400k) chair who arranged a loan of the best part of £1m to Johnson. The removal of Lineker is based on his criticism of the tone of the language that's being used against people fleeing danger.

What I hate about public discourse is that everything is drawn as simplistic. It's possible for him to be smug / a hypocrite as some would see it and for the BBC to still be massively in the wrong. We're not picking a football team.

What I've found encouraging about this is the demonstration of collective power. When we stand together, we're stronger. When we can't be divided, we won't be destroyed.

I'm not stupid or naive enough to compare this directly to the man on the street. It's much easier to take a moral stance when you're financially very comfortable. But we shouldn't forgot the power of unity when our friends and family are striking for better pay, conditions etc.

We would do well not to be divided simply because we may be inconvenienced.
