Carrick picked the wrong team on Saturday.
And the wrong team tonight.
Subs tonight were also awful.
Forrs had to come on before Crooks.
McGree left Forrs right and get at them.
Archer wasn't very good but swapping him for Crooks just killed the game for us.
Roll on Bristol in Carrick we trust.
Tin helmet time

Forss for Archer seemed the obvious choice for me. I'd have been leaving it until 10 minutes before time to bring Crooks on, then I'd have moved Forss out to the right.

I would be interested to know why Carrick seems to prefer McNair to Fry as well at this present time.

He must think that he is a better passer of the ball having also played in midfield in the past and that is the only reason that I can think of.

McNair is comfortable with the ball at hsi feet and he wanted to build up play from the back

Fry can't do that, he's not techncally up to it

Fair play to Carrick, he is sticking to his philosophy, so should Boro fans who now seem to want changes after 2 defeats

Get the big lads back and play more direct..............we tried that for he last 5 years, it failed

If we persit with McNair at the back then we wont get promoted its that simple. Hes an appalling centre back

I am firmly in the Fry camp. That said, Paddy is being scapegoated, his mistakes do not warrant the level of anger displayed against Huddersfield in particular and yesterday versus Burnley. He is not as poor as some are making out, he has different attributes to Fry Carrick has his reasons and we should trust him for now, he is trying to build a style and philosophy so different to what we have seen for such a long time.

Some fans are over reacting because of 2 defeats. If we had won both games, I doubt Paddy gets the pelters he has to the same degree. He has his limitations, so does Fry and all our players, we are a Championship team. Lets be honest here, were we to go up, then I think we would struggle badly in the PL, even with significant investment as our pool of players to choose from would be at a lower grade than many in that league currently.

Brighton and Brentford are the models we need to learn from and scapegoating players and managers unfairly is wrong, we conceded 4 goals against Huddersfield and 2 v Burnley, we have conceded more goals than any team in the top 10. That is not because of Paddy McNair, it is because of the entire team, the manager and his tactics and selection, the quality of opposition, standards of officials and so much more. McNair is a small cog in the reasons why we ship goals, replacing him for Fry is what I would do personally, but I would also start Forss on the right too as he offers help for Smith defensively that Ramsey and McGree don’t when on the right. Our problems and weaknesses are there to see and be exploited, McNair being benched will not solve all our issues overnight, not by a long chalk, but lets also applaud them for where we have come from and may yet still go to.

Or maybe with a game 68 hours later he wanted to save a Fry for Monday? Just a thought. Ditto Forss.

Whilst that is a valid point and rightly made, yesterday was not the first time he has done so and so personally i think it a red herring, regarding Fry especially, although I am sure Fry and Forss will start v Bristol. I also think Barlaser may start too. Hackney looks like he needs a rest, mind so does Jonny H.

First time maybe but possibly in his thinking this time of the season.

A reality check for some, we can't win every game. Would have snapped your hand off for the position we're in now when Carrick took over. If any players have knocks etc best to save the for the playoffs than risk them being out longer term.
