Songs that emotionally cut you

Martin Rossiter - 3 points in a compass, I don’t relate to it but wow..

James - Moving On. It’s upbeat but it was out the time I lost a grandparent due to the cruel disease that is dementia. The video is a graphic representation of the loss of someone slowly. Gets me every time.

I first heard this on a Friday in 1996 when I bought a single by Orlando called Just For A Second and this was one of the additional tracks(remember B-sides). Anyway I played this track and was stunned at how good it was. The lyrics and subject matter were superb. I thought my late wife would like it and I'll put it on one of the tapes I was always making for her. Anyway we went out on the Friday night and came back in and put some music on. Rather than hold back on the song I decided to play it for her. She never said a word when listening but when it finished she just said play it again. So play it again I did. Then again and again. She listened to it about 10-12 times straight off. She always loved hearing it when it finally went on to a tape.

I looked for it of YouTube about 5ish years ago as I wanted to share it with people. I got taken down and I got a message from Rhino about copyright and their ownership. Imagine my surprise at finding it tonight provided by Rhino themselves in 2017.

Anyway hope you like it as much as we did many years ago.

Orlando - Something To Write Home About

Right boys and girls here is the link to the Spotify playlist for this thread. Its a "Collaborative" playlist meaning you can go on and add the songs yourself after posting on here of course. Hopefully people will do that as I don't want to have to update it myself. I will if necessary but please help out if you have Spotify. It was traumatic enough going back through some of the posts and playing the song choices. Even my own songs.

There was some songs I couldn't find on Spotify. One of my own in fact. Not too many though about half a dozen out of 120 songs. There was a couple listed but greyed out meaning they have probably been taken down. I left them in the list in case anyone is looking for their song and also in the hope the come back on.

I was going to change the title but couldn't think of anything better and It wasn't mine to change anyway. Although I did quite like this quote for a title.

“The past can't hurt you anymore, not unless you let it.”
― Alan Moore, V for Vendetta

The songs are pretty much in the order they were posted.

And two others in quick succession that are linked.

The first (Harvest Moon by Neil Young) was a song a mutual (to some of us) friend played on the Pig jukebox to remember another friend (a barmaid) who died suddenly a number of years ago.

The second (Moonchild by Rory Gallagher) is a song I (and others, no doubt) will be playing on the Pig jukebox to remember said friend who died suddenly in December.

RIP Ginger Mick & Eunice.

Didn't know he played that for Eunice Scrote. Just shows you that even after 50 years you don't know everything about one of your best mates. Eunice was a lovely lady.
Coincidentally it would have been Mick's birthday(67) today and at his funeral in November I said we would meet up for a beer in the Pig. How wrong was I. I will raise a glass for him later.👍
